Short review: worth every euro
Long review: I really love interactive museums, yes, it shows the history of Ghent, but in unique and amazing way, and there are some small things to read about everything you see, lots of things to interact with and different stories you can hear. Me and my friends fall in love with it and if you are planning to visit - make sure you have at least 2 hours for full experience of STAM!

So much to do here! The exhibition is interactive and tells a comprehensive history of Ghent, nicely presented. I wished I had more time to explore the multimodal elaboration of Ghent. Just FYI, I only spent 1.5 hours there, and it was not enough.

STAM museum is THE museum to visit when you come to Gent. Tells you the history of gent from its inception to present day. The entry is cheap (2,5€ for under 26) and worth so much more.

Loved every minute of 2,5 hours here.

The receptionist welcomed us in Slovak language after finding that we are from Slovakia ! 👍🏼

They described that there is permanent exhibition and temporary exhibition.

Permanent exhibition starts with room size map of Gent. And after that starts history of the city, room by room you will learn large parts of history. There are artifacts, infographics, and even in some rooms interactive maps with timeline information ❤👍🏼👏

Superb museum on the history of the city of Ghent, and in a very nice place, a former abbaye.
Very very nice staff!
Most of the time also temporary exhibition added; nowedays on the Skyline of Cities; interesting.
There is also a nice café.

A very interesting combination of an old and modern bildung. This underlines the hundreds of years of Ghent's cultural and economic history very well. The displays are informative and interactive. Even for children there is enough to be interested in. The cafeteria next to it is also worth a visit.

Nice museum. It was closed for renovation for a while and now it looks much better than before. Got a nice outside space and a café for people to chill around. The garden on the inside is beautiful. Good collection. Definetly worth a visit.

Very nice museum. This was very interesting, as a Belgian there's a lot I didn't know about the History of this town. I don't want to spoil too much but, just know there's a gigantic room with the map of the whole city, and a dozen of dedicated rooms with artefacts, objects, paintings and information about each period of Ghent's History. Everything is very well kept, and the museum itself is in a very nice, clean, historical building. The personnel at the entrance will give you any additional information you'd need with a bright smile and enthusiasm.

An amazing experience for exactly 2,5€ as a student.
An incredible bargain, and an absolute must if you're visiting the town.

Great museum with lots of information on the history of the city, interactive displays and a nice mix of art pieces related to the themes. The architecture of the building is also impressive and very well designed overall

I love museums, and STAM is great! Housed in a former abbey, you learn a bit about the history of the building as well as the history of the city. If you do not read Dutch, GET THE €3 AUDIOGUIDE! If you do not get the audio guide, you'll miss out on a lot of information. The way the main exhibit is set up has a nice flow, and the artifacts from the middle ages were quite interesting. I went at the end of my trip, so I could appreciate the maps and names of places. Also: they have a small copy of the Mystic Lamb, which was easier to look at than the real one in St. Bavos' cathedral. The outside area is nice, and people were outside studying and taking in the sun. Highly recommended for visitors interested in learning more about Ghent.

Informative and a nice cozy museum that explains and illustrates what's there under the city of Ghent. Also shows the history and architecture of Ghent from 1500s.

This museum is fascinating! It gives a great peek into the history of Ghent and it’s enjoyable to wander the buildings and grounds of this old hospital zone and imagine what it must have been like 100’s of years ago. There are some cool LEGO towers here, and interesting exhibitions- I just wish I had seen the English language booklet for the crime exhibition sooner.
