Ali Amjad's Clock

Ali Amjad's Clock ( Bangali: আলী আমজদের ঘড়ি) is the oldest clock tower of Bangladesh and lies on the north bank of the Surma River in the northeastern city of Sylhet. The tower was founded by Nawab Ali Ahmad Khan of Prithimpassa in 1872 and named after his son, Nawab Ali Amjad Khan.

the clock was presented by Ali Amjad's father Nawab Ali Ahmed Khan, which was later constructed around 1895.

Its a great history for my home town . Once a time nobody use the clock. That time all of the sylhety citizens watch this time for daily lives. Today its our symbol for our past history. When i visit this place i feel amazing .

The Ali Amjad Clock (Bengali: আলী আমজদের ঘড়ি) is the oldest clock tower of Bangladesh located on the bank of Surma River in Sylhet City. It is locally known as "Ghori Ghar" and a popular tourist attraction adjacent to the Keane Bridge.

Excellent piece of history of over hundred years old. Ali Amjad built it beside the kin bridge. But most people don't know about it as drug addicts roam around it. It's a bit unsafe at night. But it's real beauty is at night

One of the beautiful & traditional monument at Sylhet...

It felt amazing hearing this historic clock's sound. Unfortunately, the adjescent area has turned into a truck stand. This is very degrading considering the value of two iconic and historic construction and the mighty Surma river's view. I hope the authorities will fix this as they have fixed the clock.
