Taste of The Orient Yum Cha House

You know what I love about Taste of the Orient? Every single flavour listed on a menu item comes through distinctly in the food, in perfect balance. Every herb and spice as well as the taste of high quality meats and vegetables. Never overpowering, never underwhelming. It is literal perfection. I have been eating your food since I was a little kid and you had the stall at the Wesley Hill Market, my friend and I loved the waffles and red bean sesame balls for a treat. To this day those balls are one of my favourite foods and they are just as I remember them, stretchy and chewy on the inside, mildly sweet bean paste and tender crispy on the outside. Now one of my favourite things to get are the dim sims, fried - the texture is so perfect, never tough, so fresh, crispy, fragrant with herbs and ginger etc, perfectly cooked to the tender middle, and they're never too oily. I know I'm rambling now but this is my comfort food - the only other food with this quality and nostalgia is the home cooked meals of loved ones. And nowhere else can you get authentic, free range, organic, GLUTEN FREE yum cha like this!! And always within 10-15min too. Castlemaine is so lucky to have you. Thought it was about time I left a review because you guys never fail to turn an average day into a good one. Cheers :)

Delicious dim sum and Chinese food. Fried rice was tasty.
Food was served pretty quick like usual Asian restaurant. Stir fried vegetables really fresh and crunchy. Cooked perfectly. siu mai are great, har gaw were hot but great.

There is many thing worth to try, like the Malaysian Coffee, definitely bring me back home.

Tiny little restaurant that is well worth a visit, Organic meals to suit everyone. Super fast and friendly service. Great, flavourful, fresh dishes. Can't wait to return.

We had lunch on Saturday and it was beautiful. We ordered the deluxe dumpling mix and were not disappointed. Staff polite and it is pretty busy which is also a good sign. Quite a small establishment with limited seating but clean and prompt service.

Yeah the food here is delicious. And we enjoyed the flavour station (featuring chilli bean sauce).

Best pork buns I have had in Australia! Service was also fantastic.

I've been eating here for years. It's my favourite dumplings. I always go for the char siu bao, and the most amount of different dumplings i can afford. Enjoy that slowly with a pot or two of oolong tea, and it's the best use of an afternoon i can think of.

Fantastic food! Definitely recommend the yum cha menu, dumplings and bao/steamed buns are huge and yum! Lots of vegetarian options. Some great Malaysian specials too and 4 chilli sauces to try. Great dinner, thank you!

Authentic and tasty food, made with care. Fair price too. One of my go-to's is the Singapore fried rice, always a winner! Keep it up guys 👍

What a nice little Chinese restaurant in Castlemaine. The service was good & the food was prepared quickly. Good menu of things to choose from.

Love it! We had a day trip from Melbourne, stop by to have lunch. We had seafood fried noodles and deep-fried vegan dumplings. Nice flavours, and we will come back again!

Absolutely delicious. I tried the sweet & sour pork pieces as well as the chicken stir fry with Hokin noodles and I will definitely be going back for more.

The foods are tasty! We had Singaporean Fried Noodle with Fried Calamari. We finished it up with this tiny pumpkin thingy, you gotta try this!
