Bruny Island Tasmania

A magnificent part of the world with amazing natural beauty and a rich indigenous and modern history.
We took a day trip and as well as taking in the wonderful coastal scenery and bushland, visited a number of places to sample the local culinary delights such as the cheese factory and brewery, honey farm, chocolate shop and oyster bar. There is also a great little museum with all sorts of artefacts.
There was a bit of a traffic queue for the return ferry at the end of the day but worth the wait.

Beautiful place to visit

Let me preface this by saying Bruny Island isn't your typical tourist destination. It's a place that gets under your skin and whispers tales of ancient times and wild beauty.

I came here expecting stunning scenery, and Bruny definitely delivered. From the dramatic cliffs of The Neck to the hidden coves and white sand beaches, it's a photographer's paradise. But the island's soul lies in its untamed spirit. I spent hours hiking through the national park, surrounded by towering eucalyptus trees and the occasional wallaby sighting. It's a place where silence reigns, broken only by the calls of native birds and the crashing waves.

And then there's the food! Bruny Island punches above its weight when it comes to fresh, local produce. I feasted on the most incredible oysters I've ever had, and the cheese tasting at the providore was a revelation. Be prepared to indulge, because resisting these culinary treats is a losing battle.

Now, Bruny isn't all sunshine and rainbows. The weather can be unpredictable, and if you're looking for five-star resorts and bustling nightlife, this isn't the place for you. Accommodation is mostly on the rustic side, and the pace of life is decidedly relaxed. But if you're seeking an escape from the ordinary, a chance to reconnect with nature and indulge in some local goodness, Bruny Island will leave you wanting more.

It's not just a place you visit; it's an experience you feel.
