Bruny Island Gateway Cafe

We sat outside in the sun, on the verandah and soaked up the magnificent views, watching the 3 Bruny ferries, yachts and motor launches come and go, while we enjoyed a feed of salt & pepper squid and an interesting Bruny Island IPA, with a kick like a mule! 😅
Can highly recommend this establishment, which is under the recent new ownership of a lovely young woman from Sydney, who saw the light after 22 years as an optometrist and now calls Tasmania home.

Chill vibes early morning before heading off to Bruny Island. I loved their Chai Latte.

We arrived early for the Ferry and had some time to kill. The staff were lovely and the Chai Latte coupled with the views made for an fantastic experience. Highly recommend adding a visit before boarding the Ferry.

The coffee was exceptionally delicious in the restaurant overlooking the ocean.

Found this awesome place by chance when waiting for the ferry. Good coffee, friendly staffs and awesome food, eating outside on the balcony is an extra free bonus.Definitely will come back!

Handy place to grab a drink and a bite to eat whilst waiting for the ferry.

Lovely position overlooking the marina. Great place to have a bite to eat. The meat pies were very tasty and the wedges were the best we have ever had. The service was friendly and prompt. The only down side was the lack of parking because the original carpark has now been closed of to the public and only available to those who have their boats moored there. This must be very difficult for business and I feel for the owners of the cafe.

Nice coffee in the cold morning 7.09 am before we drive check in to the ferry ⛴.

Had dinner here whilst waiting for the 7:00pm ferry. Really great food and good service! They were under the pump tonight (Friday) but still able to get the food out prior to the departure of the ferry 👍

Great position, friendly and prompt service. The pies were scrumptious and the potato wedges were the best we have ever eaten. It is unfortunate there is so little off street parking.

This is our local go to for coffee and the occasional lunch. Good coffee and nice food in an exceptional setting. If you have the time you can walk onto the ferry and crossover and return for free. We still call this The Mermaid because we don't like the new name. Makes it sound like a franchise.

Highly recommend! The food was fantastic and the staff are friendly and helpful. A nice environment to meet friends and family for a nice meal and get some photos that look fancy.
