Lake Whadie Cafe and Indian Restaurant

Cafe Whadie offers a delightful experience for lovers of spicy Indian cuisine paired with a serene view. With delicious, beautifully presented dishes and indoor-outdoor seating, it's the perfect spot. The rear outdoor area overlooks a stunning lake and lush green scenery. Good service awaits, but due to its popularity, booking ahead is recommended. Even without a reservation, they graciously accommodated us when we stopped by.

Loved this place, the food is just beautiful and the lady who served us was quick witted and very friendly and knew the dishes so well that she could recommend dishes which she did and those dishes were fantastic,

Went for a birthday dinner yesterday, both food and service were fantastic. A lovely cosy atmosphere, food very well presented, and it was delicious, and portions are very generous too. Good value for money. Best Indian food in the area thus far. 10/10 recommended. Staff were also very friendly and welcoming.

We had wonderful Indian food here. E.g. Chicken Curry with Kashmiri rice, highly recommended. Compared to another Indian restaurant a few days later, this here was so much better. Small menu, which is a sign of quality for me. I would love to come back in a heartbeat, if we weren’t visiting from another country!

Unbelievable! Very special Indian taste .... don't waste any time and look for your next exotic tastes buds, Best Indian flavours in Bairnsdale. Inside space is lovely, and warmth. With the perfect scenery, overlooking the Mitchell River and wide open spaces. Generous portions meals and overall very high standard services provided. Lake Whadies is a great cafe to dine in or get takeout. Make sure you go in & try it for yourself. Food is delicious & tastes amazing, the service is friendly & it’s a cozy cafe with an indoor & outdoor dining area. Not large areas but comfortable seating.

Best indian restaurant i've possibly dined at so far and thats considering we only came to this place as a vacation and wasn't too fussed about the food situation, however this restaurant really caught my attention. The food there is decadent and delicious and puts puts a unique but appealing twist on indian food, but what's a restaurant without customer service. Lake Whadie really went above and beyond my expectations when it came to the meals and the customer service, the waitresses who were working the lunch shift on Saturday the 25th November need a bonus or something to recognize the hard work they put in into ensuring customers are valued.

Once again, made just perfect, specially the Butter chicken on the spicy side as requested, every dish Lamb Rogan Josh, Veg Curry & Pea pilau were perfect. Having decided its more economical and guaranteed delectable to buy take away from Lake Whadie than cook. Highly recommended 👌

Awesome little resteraunt with a great view. Very reasonably priced drinks ( a $6 alcoholic lemon lime and bitters and $8 Jim Beam and coke!). Well worth a visit.

Came in last minute and was accommodated, busy little hub so recommend booking ahead. Really good tasting and light Indian food, SAAG Chicken and Prawn Masala was really yummy. They are licenced an sell beer and wine. Gentle, kind and fun staff made the meal memorable. Big recomend!

Absolutely the best Indian we have had in a long time!! We had a variety of dishes and all of them were cooked with so much flavor and quality! The staff was also very sweet and pleasant to be with. They moved things around us to accommodate us and was very friendly. We all left full and happy!!! Would be back again if we did not live 10,000 miles away!!

The food was fabulous. We knew we were in for a treat when we saw that the restaurant was filled with locals. The chef uses the freshest ingredients to create succulent lamb and paneer dishes with the perfect mix of spices. The staff was cheerful and down to earth. There is the added benefit of a great view.

Very good North Indian cuisine. Beautiful location; overlooking a lake. It's very picturesque.
