We went to Thorntons and will definitely return. The service was friendly and prompt. Food was fantastic. The fish was caught off the reef only a few days before. The view is incredible. I'm a Coeliac and safely ate there. My sons fructose and lactose intolerant and ate the kids fish and chips with no issues. I hope you enjoy it like we did.

We stopped in here for lunch on our day trip to Cape Tribulation. What a great spot. Perfectly situated with views over the water. Service was fantastic. Food was fast and delicious. We had the prawn cocktail and it was superb. It's also licenced and we enjoyed their rainforest sling which was delicious.

We unfortunately missed the service for lunch, and the view from their deck was spectacular. Would love to come here again and try their food. I'm not sure if it's permanent, but they did have a note saying they only took cash and were the nearest ATM was.

Friendly welcoming the minute you walk in, followed by great selection of drinks and a laid back on the beach atmosphere. The food was amazing, three of us had three different dishes and all were delicious.

What an awesome, quirky little cafe / restaurant ! Loved it, great fresh food awesome friendly staff. Enjoyed our lunch there today. Will tell everyone about this place. 👌 🥪 🍺

Cracking little place, worth the stop for a quick bite and to check the beach.

You could easily drive past this place but it’s certainly worth pulling over.

It sits right on the beach with tables inside as well as tables outside looking into the beach.

Staff were very friendly.

We just had chips (which were delicious) and a beer, and staff were fine with us ordering this small order.

After having a little rest and bite to eat we walked down to the beach.

It really is a nice little area that’s good to grab a bite to eat at and to have a rest. Especially considering you get easy access to the beach.

Wonderful Cafe in stunning location. Friendly staff, delicious meals and beautiful views. What more can you ask for? A must visit on your way to/from Cape Tribulation.

I just want to say thank you to the staff at thorthon's restaurant for the kindness shown last night. Me and my partner were on our way to cape tribulation and with the heavy rains we got stuck and couldn't move. They gave us water and made us some tasty chips for free when the place was already closed and they were going home.

This is an amazing little cafe that we found while driving through the Daintree. Stopped for lunch, to be greeted with a view that I honestly didn't think existed in real life. Drinks and seafood on a desk overlooking a pristine beach. What could have been better!

Service was prompt, meals were great, prices reasonable. If we're ever in the area again I'd want to stop here for another meal.

A truly picturesque place to eat lunch, with a surprisingly international menu - right on the beach! You couldn’t find a closer spot to the ocean if you tried.
Top recommended dishes: The tofu (which turned out to be Agedashi tofu, by the way) was delicious. They also had potato baaji (a fun take on onion baji) which was delicious but quite oily - but we should have expected as it is deep fried. The fish and chips were also incredible. Highly recommend this place!

Cannot comment on the food as none was ordered. (However alot of people were ordering early lunch or lunch).
We had Cappuccino e Caffe latte - which were great quality. The view was also exceptional. Can't go wrong, great little stop.

Good size meal, great price, tasty and fresh. We love it! And the location is a plus.

Beautiful fresh food presented really well. 'Best fish and chips' my husband stated on our trip. Service was fast and friendly. All wrapped up in a typical far north Queensland iconic location. Couldn’t fault it for a relaxing break in the trip up to Tribulation.

Cozy cafe with some decent tasting sandwiches that are really filling! Also a nice view of Thornton’s beach and easily accessible. Coffee is decent + they’re licensed for alcohol too.

Thornton Beach Caf'e is situated right on the beachfront amongst large shady trees. As the business is under new management the food and coffee is still excellent. You can sit outdoors overviewing the sea and islands while having a bite to eat and drink in paradise. There is also a licensed bar. Great place to stop, have a break and take a walk on the beachfront.

So good, we came back a second time from Palm Cove! Loved the prawn cocktail, paired with a crisp glass of white wine (great wine list!) overlooking an untouched tropical beach - perfection! The staff were so happy and friendly. I had 2 kids with me, who also loved the food and the experience!

Great little Cafe right on the beach! We stopped here a few times after hiking and beach walks for an awesome lunch - Their fish & chips paired with a cold beer is a winner! We'll be back again for sure!

So glad we stopped. It doesn't look like much but the "Fish Soup" was fantastic and the side of fries was crispy and a generous portion. Beside the beach, so it has a nice view from the outside tables, but being a croc area you can't swim. Totally recommend this place!!

Definitely worth a visit! The location is spectacular, food is great, and staff is friendly. Would recommend fixing the water tap and adding some light in the toilets.
