Daintree is a wonderful place to visit if you’re a nature lover. For kids it’s a great place to teach them how interesting and precious the nature is. Trees and vines that are many thousand years old, river, streams and waterways working their way around the landscape to move the water downstream, and walking through that you can enjoy every moment of the time there. If you are visiting Cairns, a must do. Make sure to allocate a day for the trip or at minimum a good half day.
Cafe at the visitor centre is decent, serves a few varieties, but food can get finished early when busy. So plan well if you want to have lunch there or take your own lunch. Many interesting souvenirs and gifts at the merch store

In the verdant heart of Queensland, Australia, lies a natural masterpiece that hums with life and whispers with ancient tales. The Daintree Rainforest, an enchanting realm of emerald splendor, captivates the senses and beckons intrepid souls to immerse themselves in its lush embrace. Just as Anthony Bourdain sought to uncover the essence of places through his culinary adventures, let us embark on a literary journey into the heart of this awe-inspiring rainforest.

In Daintree, the air pulsates with a symphony of scents—a medley of damp earth, floral fragrances, and the rich musk of decaying foliage. As you venture deeper into this untamed wonderland, the chorus of exotic birdcalls orchestrates the soundtrack of your exploration. Rainbow-hued avian wonders flutter overhead, their vibrant plumage a testament to the resplendent palette nature wields in this haven of biodiversity.

Like a wise sage, the towering canopy overhead weaves its emerald tapestry, sheltering a myriad of secrets beneath its leafy cloak. It is said that the Daintree Rainforest is one of the oldest living ecosystems on Earth, its ancient roots tracing back over a hundred million years. Each step taken here is a dance with history—an immersion into a primordial landscape that has witnessed the ebb and flow of time.

With each stride, the earth yields beneath your feet—a mosaic of interlaced roots and velvety moss. The rhythmic hush of a nearby stream guides you, as if whispering tales of hidden waterfalls and pristine swimming holes awaiting discovery. The cascading notes of rushing water entice you to peel back the verdant curtain and reveal these aquatic treasures nestled within the heart of the rainforest.

As the sun weaves its dappled tapestry through the thick canopy, revealing pockets of golden light, the rainforest's inhabitants awaken. An eclectic cast of creatures emerges from their slumber, their movements both graceful and mysterious. Agile tree kangaroos play a captivating game of hide-and-seek amidst the branches, while vibrant cassowaries, guardians of the forest, wander solemnly, their plumage adorned with colors that defy imagination.

Beyond the vibrant tapestry of life, the Daintree Rainforest holds profound cultural significance for the Indigenous Kuku Yalanji people, who have nurtured this land for generations. Their ancestral footprints are imprinted upon the forest floor, guiding visitors towards a deeper understanding and appreciation for the intricate web of life that thrives within.

To truly experience the Daintree Rainforest is to immerse oneself in its ever-evolving narrative—a story told through the interplay of light and shadow, the symphony of sounds, and the ancient wisdom held within its ancient trees. It is a place that ignites the imagination, inviting introspection and a profound connection with the natural world.

The Daintree Rainforest invites you to taste the essence of life itself. So, venture forth, dear traveler, into this realm of mystery and wonder, and let the Daintree Rainforest etch its indelible mark upon your heart and soul.

Fantastic walk through the oldest living rainforest, super informative and thought provoking around how conservation is managed. Due to the information side of things we noted children were less interested as the walk went on. Overall it's a fascinating look at this part of Australia, and was value for money. Walk itself is very easy with a section over the tree roots the hardest.

Incredible forest and walking experience!

The forest itself is just incredible. There is also a really incredible transition when you get close to the seas as well, on some banks you can literally see a line where the rainforest stops and the mangrove swamp starts!

Trails are largely boardwalks and mobility accessible which is fabulous!

A strong recommend from me!!!

Probably one of the best places on Earth! It has so many crocodiles, flora and fauna and the ice cream at the Daintree ice cream company is just sublime.

Amazing place, we got shown around on the tour you get taught about some leaves which if they brush your skin they put toxins into your skin so you end up with pain for months on end !! They are in a heart shape of course!

Also we got show the ants with a big ball on there back which we got to try and eat! Tastes just like citrus and is 100 percent vitamin c! Overall it was a cool learning experience.

Beautiful place to visit. We visited mossman gorge and got to have a brief walk through before having to turn back as we were not dressed appropriately. For the best day there, take swimmers and walking shoes!

A must see when travelling in Far North QLD. We went to the discovery centre to do our exploring. Very very hot in wet season though, so dress smart and perhaps avoid the wet season!

Most untouched rainforest we’ve seen on our travels! (minus access roads)
Had a beautiful Daintree river cruise and saw some wild crocodiles (not disturbed or fed by tours).

Throughout the whole day we did not see huge numbers of tourists and the rainforest and public areas were in good condition with no litter or unnecessary infrastructure.

Cape Tribulation beach was beautiful- large beach that borders straight onto the mangroves and rainforest.

Nature at its best and worst! Beautiful piece of the country, loved the kids being off grid staying up here. Saw a cassowary crossing the road. Didn't see any crocs but had a croc burger! Enjoyed the sounds of the jungle from our cabin. We had a massive storm the night before leaving. In the morning the green bum ants were climbing all over you when you walked to the car, it was also pretty tricky getting back to the ferry as trees had come down over parts of the road. Amazing experience, water is so blue but you dare not go in as crocs are present!

Nice spot, easy tour for 1 day. If you want to see animals you need to spend a night and book a tour with a guide.

A bit of a drive from Port Douglas but you will be definitely rewarded when you get there as this place is amazing! Crystal clear waters flowing through amongst pristine bushland and rainforest, the sights, quiet, and nature is beautiful. Can only imagine how beautiful it would be to someone who has only ever lived in a city..!

It is really sad what urbanization can do to the oldest rainforest in the world, and before one realises what has been destroyed for developing roads for interstate connect, all that remains is a piece that will make us regret our choices

Nevertheless, it's a must must must do on the list of doing things in Australia

Because we did a day trip to so.many things due to little time on hand, we couldn't soak-in everything ...Including a trek. But no complains. Thus, if you have some time on hand, visit this one without it overlapping other plans.

A magical wonderland, steeped in mystery, intrigue and nature at its best. The oldest rainforest on the planet..... home to flora and fauna from a ‘Jurassic’ age found nowhere else in the world... a day is not enough!!
