Moose Head Lodge

Everything you need for a comfortable recharge away from home with your pooch. This was the most thoughtfully considered space I have stayed in.

We stayed 3 nights at Moose Head and managed to play many of the games, read more than one book and play around 30 records; music taste is spot on though I have a request for some Stooges to be added to the collection for our next stay :p

The kitchen has plenty of space for you to cook together without bumping into each other and has every tool and gadget you can think of to help you create some meals from scratch. The kitchen is well stocked kitchen, I thought I had come prepared with food and yet Matt and Rachel still thought of things I had not such as popcorn to pop and pizza sauce (how I forgot that I don’t know!).

I loved curiously exploring the house and property to find new quirky details such as the faces in the fireplace and the little moose emblem at the front door. Moose Head has had a lot of love and thought put into every detail and I’m surprised at the vintage and unique items there for us to admire and use. Including some rare records and toys I had as a child that brought back many memories.

I’d also like to mention that the communication from Matt & Rachel was above and beyond what I expect from a host. They have a welcome pack that is detailed with things about the house and area, clearly explains how to use everything during your stay and includes diagrams! It even helped us identify what snake we seen when we first arrived.

What else can I say that the other reviewers haven’t? If you’re thinking of coming for a visit stop reading the reviews and just hit the book button now.

One of best place I have stayed so far in my life. We spent 2 nights at Moose Head Lodge for my birthday. It’s off grid cottage , very peaceful, with natural beauty. I would highly recommend this place. You will enjoying doing bbq, making pizza , wood fire and many games.

Great lodging experience. Stunning views, beautifully built cabin surrounded by absolute peace. The hosts really made the weekend perfect for my fiance and I. My only recommendation is for travelers, the baw baw village charges $57 for entry and $18 for tire chains if you do not have some (mandatory for entry), so plan on packing enough meals for your stay if you dont plan on visiting. FYI the road going towards Mushroom rock camp ground is littered with gravel, so do have a spare tire just in case because I punctured and ruined a good tire.

Beautiful lodge, lots of space in a well thought out layout for quite a big group. Runs on a 12 volt solar system and has reception just up the road (optus) and in the house (telstra). Great facilities and lots to do in the area, and the hosts are an absolute treat to deal with. Would definitely stay here again!

wonderful place to stay. has everything you need for a cosy stay away from civilisation. fireplace, board games and a short drive to baw baw. native birds visit in the afternoon and at night you can use the telescope to view all the stars!

Great place in Tanjil Bren. Owners are lovely 😊 Sitting by the fireplace, looking outside the big windows, overlooking the tall trees, was so relaxing and peaceful!
