Wonthaggi Wetlands Conservation Park

A beautiful reserve which is maintained meticulously. Great tracks and plenty of birds to photograph. A pity that people feed wild animals bread though!

The Wetlands are located close to the heart of Wonthaggi, near the Bass Coast Hospital and backs onto Kmart. Access to the reserve is via South Dudley Road, along an unsealed road and carpark.
The multiple, wide compacted gravel pathways and timber walkways are wheelchair accessible with little gradient.
The reserve is ideal for bird watching, sedate walking, picnics, fresh air and taking in the local flora and fauna. If your patient and quiet you may see Eastern Kangaroos, Swamp Wallabies, Brown Goshawks, Kookaburras and the local Ducks and Peahens to name a few.
The ambience provides the opportunity for quiet reflection and should provide a sense of calm to even the most stressed individuals.
I spent about an hour walking the many pathways and took a number of photographs of the lake, the birdlife and the landscape.
A great location to wind down, relax and take in what nature has to offer.

A delightful spot with a variety of walks and diversity of plants and birdlife. A highlight of Wonthaggi.

Nice walk.

Has good walking paths but not a lot of shade. Can often hear the noise of traffic and commercial areas. It's not the best place to fully relax but it is a green space with relatively secluded walking paths
