A kind boss who loves wombats.
She checks what our meals are like and cares a lot.
Cold and spicy tuna udon is definitely worth trying, and the food has a high quality overall.
Don't hesitate to visit this place!

Honestly one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. The staff are super friendly just like in Japan and the food was absolutely delicious. We had the stewed beef Udon noodles and the katsu curry Udon noodles. They were both super delicious and exactly like how they are made in Japan. Definitely coming here again for the freshly made Udon noodles.

Great food, Great vibe with wombat concept, Great service. Shame I could only give five stars maximum. I had the tempura bowl, it comes with 1 fish, 1 shrimp, 1 bunch of green beans, 2 pieces of yam and 1 piece of sweet pumpkin. There is also some rice underneath soaked in tempura sauce. My japanese friend said udon was great. There isn't enough seat so you gotta wait for a while when there is a rush. Worth a visit.

Visited again,
If you like fishy taste, Mentaiko cream udon
is your choice. Tan Tan noodles was the best
for me. Tempura was also good.😮‍💨
Like always, best services with best food.👍

The best udon and noodles I had outside of Japan . I’m pretty sure they will get a Michelin star one day .

Got the plain udon and the Wakame udon which were nice and springy with delicious flavours . The tempura was cooked to perfection and had a wonderful crisp.

The staff were so friendly and explained everything with a bright smile making the whole experience even better .

Would come again and recommend my friends as well.

Udon was delicious but what stood out most for us was the amazing service here! They were so nice and sweet to us 😭 Portion is big and I think the price for fresh udon is very valuable!

Door says best Udon in Cairns. For me this was as good as the Michelin star udon restaurant in Tokyo! The chicken katsu was amazing, the outside layer doesn’t fall off. Stew beef was great and of course the udon. Last but not least, best service I’ve had during my visit to Australia! Everyone was super friendly. Thank you!

Amazing! Such authentic Japanese udon made in house - same quality as in Japan and very friendly staff. Clean restaurant and ice water immediately upon sitting down to cool down in the cairns humid heat.

It was very hard to decide what to eat but for three adults, we were stuffed and very satisfied after ordering 3 dishes: stewed beef hot udon in soup, cold tan tan udon, tempura mix (fish, seafood stick, yam, pumpkin, veggies) donburi bowl. A hidden gem and an absolute must try.

Go well before their closing time since some dishes will set out early!

With ~400 reviews at 4.9 you'd think this place would be good.

It is.

I selected curry chicken katsu with rice -- a good choice that was tasty & filling but next time I'll choose the curry chicken katsu udon -- someone near me was eating that and it looked like a treat. BTW that yellow coloured stuff in the photo is grated cheese; it melts and mixes in with the curry sauce making it a bit gooey -- very nice :)

There's only enough space for 20 customers at a time in the restaurant, less if the tables of 4 don't have all seats filled. The focus is on turnover not lingering. There's often a queue to get in around lunch time but the wait rarely seems more than 10-15 mins..

The decor and style of the restaurant is true to its Japanese roots. I felt like I could be in a small eatery in Shinjuku.

Overall it was a good experience and a place well with visiting.

100/10 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
If you think the udon looks good in picture, wait until you have the first bite. It's sooo good!!! The udon is made in house which is so chewy and cooks to the perfection not too smooshed not too hard. I went with 2 other friends and we're all agreed on how good it is. You can see it from the last picture as an evidence (empty bowl lol). Also great and fantastic service as well. The lady who served and took order from us is very nice. Definitely, one of my top favourite restaurant in Australia.

Might be the best udon I've ever had! They were somehow both thick and chewy but light. The stewed beef udon had a great combination of subtle flavours that were perfectly balanced together. The beef in that dish was particularly delicious. We also had the cold spicy & sour tuna noodles. That was very refreshing considering the heat of the day. It was flavourful with mild spice that paired well with the Mayo and sour components.

If you're looking for a meal in Cairns, give this place a try!

Had to line up to get in this place but it was ABSOLUTELY worth it. This was some of the nicest udon noodles I have tasted anywhere in Australia. Highly recommend the cold tan tan udon. Service was also excellent.

🔥There food is highly addictive🔥
It’s truly the most tasty Japanese restaurant I have ever been too.
🔥Also the people who are running the shop are rockstars! They are so welcoming and have such a good heart.
🔥My go to meal is Tan Tan
I have been there at least 15x times and the food is just getting better and better!

This place is absolutely phenomenal if you’re looking for a great bowl of udon or some freshly made tempura. My partner and I came here twice in less than 24 hrs during our short trip to Cairns because of the perfectly cooked noodles and incredible service from the owner. Portions are very large (we ordered the regular size and were full) and everything is made to order behind the counter. What sets this place apart is the genuine warmth and passion of the staff, who very clearly are so proud of what they do!

So so so good! I wasn’t expecting to find the best udon noodles outside of Japan here in Cairns. Got the stewed beef udon and tan tan udon. Both were phenomenal. The pumpkin tempura was to die for and the biggest I’ve ever had. On top of it all, the service is fantastic, the owner is the sweetest human being. We’re so glad we stopped in here!

This is a restaurant I keep coming back to. Really delicious food, and the staff are super friendly and welcoming. Make sure you try the sesame ice cream if you have room after eating one of the decent-sized mains.

The ratings for this place is very well deserved! The chicken curry noodles were amazing. This is probably the best food experience I’ve had in Australia since arriving here 2 months ago. I even got a cute little box for my leftovers because the large portion was so big!
You have to try it!

Fantastic noodle and Japanese food in Cairns. They make their own noodles here.

I went to lunch on a Sunday and even though it was around 15 minutes for a table the wait was worth it.

Plain udon noodle with prawn and seafood stick tempura which was so fresh and clean.

They also serve iced water and Japanese iced tea which is nice and refreshing.

The staff here are so sweet, accommodating and really lovely to interact with. You can see they care about customer service and their food.

I would come back here in a heartbeat.

The tempura prawn and udon noodles 🍜 were delicious and the service was exceptional. The lady that served me was so polite. She kept thanking me! Dined here in early September when i was visiting Cairns and this was one of the best meals I had in Cairns. They even sell Hungry wombat merchandise and there are cute photos of wombats around the restaurant.
