Thomas Park Bougainvillea Gardens

Nice peaceful place to go for a stroll. Lots of seats and tables to enjoy the quiet.

Beautiful park. Many jumping spiders around the picnic table. Found a tiny toad too!

Good quite place for toddlers to run around and play.

一个静谧、美丽的三角梅花园。。。

It is a lovely, quiet, and peaceful park. A good place for kids. There are many interesting signages giving an insight in to to history of the park. The park dates as far back as 1929, almost 100 years!
There were many bougainvillaea bushes, which unfortunately were not in bloom the day I visited. I'm sure the sight must be spectacular in full bloom!
There isn't a car park, but you can park along the sides of the road.

A short evening stretch of the legs on my way home from UQ turned into a chance discovery of Henry Thomas' Bougainvillea Gardens and the history of 'Somerset' (unfortunately the timber cottage was removed in the 1960s but there are several reproduced photographs from newspaper articles reproduced in the park's signage).
Overlooking Indooroopilly Golf Club, this park is doing its bit preserving the palms, bunya pine, boab trees and bougainvilleas that gave Henry the title 'The Bougainvillea King'.
