Great place for a breakfast and or lunch.
The staff are very welcoming and friendly.
The home-made pie and sausage rolls were fantastic. Even better to finish our meal was a cheesecake. Seriously one of the best I have ever had.

Love sitting on the balcony in the sun, enjoying the peaceful view.

Later in the afternoon a little band set up playing some soft music to go with the atmosphere.

I will be back for another relaxing lunch.
Thank you to all staff for the wonderful time today.

This cafe is awesome. It has a really peaceful atmosphere with great views of the surrounding mountains. The food is fantastic, made really fresh and had a nice homely feel to it. The chicken schnitzel in the burger was one of the best I’ve ever had- super tender and seasoned really well. The pizza was also delicious. The ladies that run the cafe are also really sweet. Would highly recommend!

Nestled along the picturesque banks of the Hawkesbury River, Wombat Cafe is a hidden gem that seamlessly blends a stunning waterfront view with ample seating space. The cafe's charm lies not just in its scenic location, but also in its diverse and delectable menu.

The fish and chips at Wombat Cafe stand out as a highlight, boasting a delightful combination of crispiness and succulence. The beef pie, with its rich and hearty filling, is a comforting choice that reflects the cafe's commitment to quality. What sets Wombat Cafe apart is the personalized touch offered by the owner. Despite not being on the menu, the peri peri chicken pizza was a revelation, showcasing the owner's willingness to go above and beyond to satisfy patrons' cravings.

Beyond the gastronomic delights, the cafe's ambiance is a key draw. The spacious seating allows guests to relax and enjoy their meals while taking in the breathtaking views of the Hawkesbury River. Wombat Cafe is more than just a dining spot; it's an immersive experience that combines great food, a welcoming atmosphere, and a touch of culinary creativity courtesy of its accommodating owner.

Could not recommend this cafe more. Annetta was so unbelievably hospitable to our group of 13, letting us hang out while it rained and looking after one of us feeling sick. Muffin was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed the pies and coffee too!

Perfect day trip to Wisemans Ferry area.
A lovely drive up Old Northern Road to the Ferry, take the punt across the Hawksbury River, turn right , and continue on for 10kms to find the Wombat Cafe at Gunderman. The cafe is situated overlooking lowlands that edge the river complete with Belted Galloways and native birds.
Upon entering the cafe, Annetta and her small team are warm and welcoming, the atmosphere rustic and friendly and the food is amazing.
The menu carries a good range without being too much, and the food is all made from scratch and one can taste the commitment of the team to cook a meal which is not overprocessed or brought in from external caterers. I had the beef pie and my companion had the fish and chips. The pie filling had a rich depth of flavour and the pastry was perfectly flaky and golden. The fish was beer battered and cooked well and the chips were hand cut and lovely and crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We finished off with a lemon cheesecake and pots of tea.
I thoroughly recommend a visit to Wombat Cafe, apart from the good food and relaxing atmosphere, it also supports our local business and community.

Truly wonderful homemade food with so much love and care put into it. And the owner is so kind and hospitable. What a pity we don‘t live here, we would become „regulars“ for sure. Highly recommend.

I feel like I've stumbled on a local secret.

The Wiseman's Ferry area, during our long weekend stay, was recovering from the damage from recent floods. As such our family plans for those few days were pretty much written off - the orchards weren't open for fruit picking so all we did was walk around and sit on the ferries to entertain the kids. We didn't realise so much would be unavailable. It's a sad situation and I hope the area can bounce back well.

Making the most of the situation we decided to explore a little on the way home and happened upon the Wombat Café.

Despite not technically being open at the time we stopped by (they were prepping for a later event) we were welcomed in and were able to order breakfast.

The food was the highlight from the entire long weekend and exactly the kind of thing we were looking for. We had the big breakfast, and nuggets and cheese toasties for the kids. Even our coffees had a local touch - the wombat stencil was a one-off created by a local (see photo). Everything was presented well and made with care - it was flavoursome, not salty or oily, with an emphasis on good hearty food.
Indeed speaking at length with the owner/operator (Annetta?) her aim is on quality food in her own style, which is awesome to see. The pastries she showed me were very impressive and we were lucky enough to leave with a deliciously ornate looking chicken and leek pie (see photo).

The views were also not lacking behind the views of the establishments in the town centre. It's easily a place you can sit around and soak in the surrounds. The kids loved seeing the "oreo" cows (belted galloway?) grazing just below the café.

I wish Annetta, her husband, and the kitchen team all the best and look forward to stopping in again to try more of the menu.

We were pleasantly impressed by this modest cafe that served us very delicious food, homemade prepared by the owner of the cafe together with her employees. We ordered: homemade pie, supreme pizza, fish & chips, salads, chocolate & carrot cakes, soft drinks etc.
Everything was delicious and unexpectedly cheap. Thank you very much for everything, we will return soon for more delicious foods.

We called into the Wombat Cafe yesterday to have lunch for the first time. Everything on the menu is home made. Home made burgers were delicious, pizza was amazing, the cheese cake was just divine. Hospitality was 10 out of 10. Well worth stopping in for a meal , like I said all home made and very reasonably priced. Halloween night coming up the end of October, live music and a lovely menu for the Saturday night . We booked in yesterday, for the Saturday night, cannot wait!!!
