Masons Café

We stopped by for lunch and it was delicious! Had the kangaroo and crocodile burger (croc was our favorite). Ended the meal with a chocolate thickshake which was perfect on a hot day 😍 I found both to be reasonably priced for the area - remember you’re in Cape Tribulation 😉

Actually came in June 2022 and really enjoyed the experience - cafe and also swimming.
Given the tropical fruit and game meat local to the area, it is actually quite difficult to find places that serve this on their menus. Mason's covers both - emu, crocodile, kangaroo; caters to veg with jackfruit, and allows you to try black sapote and other things you won't find easily.
It isn't cheap (you're in a rainforest) but the food is good with thick patties (personally emu was a bit dry but more unique, whereas crocodile was more like moist chunky chicken mince), great chips (like everywhere in Qland), and access to special fruit.

Crocodile burger was delicious! Staff were under the pump but they still provided friendly service and food came quickly. Good variety of drinks available. Water hole close by for a refreshing swim. This is a can't miss destination in Cape Trib!!

Came for the Croc burger was pleasantly surprised with the taste, the emu burger however was slightly disappointing. Wedges were done well, the cup size was a decent proportion. Friendly service, nice outdoor seating.

We had the croc, Kangaroo, Emu and the Chicken burger. They were alle really good and our favourite was the croc burger. Do eat there and visit the swimming hole right next to the cafe. Really Nice place!

Spanish mackerel fish burger was sensational, fish grilled superbly. Emu burger was also very tasty too. We polished off with an Angove Rosè & XXXX. Kitchen very busy with tour buses but our meals still served promptly.

This was a nice place which we visited on recommendation from the Port Douglas bike shop. Atmosphere was nice, outdoor eating was very clean and the crocodile burgers were sweet and didn’t disappoint. After lunch we popped down to the swimming hole which was a very relaxing spot for a quick dip to freshen up from the warmth.

There is beautiful gorge where you are required to drop a dollar each to go n swim before or after food your chocie

Bring your appetite when you come to Masons because they do hearty sized meals.
The food here is so tasty and authentic with a big range available. The chilled wraps and sandwiches sell out fast so get in early. The hot chips served with the hot meals are fresh and crispy which adds to the overall delight of the meal.

Very yummy and well presented food. Had a crocodile burger which was delicious. Chips are provided as a side, but very good and could be eaten by themselves.

Nice little surprise. While it doesn't look like much, Mason's does dish up delicious food, such as this CROCODILE burger! So yummy and the sweet potato fries are also a must! Give it a go!

We went on two guided walks with Lawrence and he is wonderful, I can't reccomend booking with him enough. You can find the tours directly on the Masons Cafe Website. Lawrence grew up on the property and therfore has a lifetime of wisdom and experience to share with you. He is also a wonderfully enthusiastic and enjoyable gentleman to be in the company of.
Both days we ate in the Cafe afterward and the food & coffee are great.

If you don't go for a swim you'll regret it for the rest of your life - it's absolutely breathtakingly beautiful.

What a spot! There is a wide range of great burgers. We had the crocodile burger and the meal portions were huge! There is a swimming hole here too so bring your swimmers.

Ordered fries for 10 dollar and you get so much! Had enough for snack for the fam with 5 people. Really good, crispy fries 💕

This place is a bit of an icon just near Cape Tribulation .. their specialty would be the crocodile burgers .. apart from this they offer a good feed at very reasonable prices .. there's also a really nice swimming hole that has beautiful clear water with lots of jungle perch easily visible .. most importantly they say it's a "no crocodile zone" and safe for swimming

Great spot to eat and relax. Really nice food with vegetarian options available also licensed. Friendly efficient staff. And to top it off a beautiful crystal clear croc free swimming hole for public use for a $1 contribution. A definite must stop.
