An absolutely beautiful Serbian Orthodox church completely underground in Coober Pedy.
We nearly didn’t go inside as the outside looked baron and unremarkable but I’m so glad we did.
This church is amazing and definitely worth a visit. Highly recommend.

Beautiful underground church that is open 24 hours. They ask for a $5 donation on entry. Definitely worth a visit when you’re in Coober Pedy. If you visit any underground church make sure it’s this one.

Definitely worth dropping by if you're in Coober Pedy, you won't see many other underground churches! No bookings were required, we came on a Wednesday afternoon and were all alone. There's plenty of parking right out front, there is a ramp to enter. The church is beautiful - be sure to bring some cash to leave a donation to help with the upkeep.

Magnificent architecture, it's interesting to see dugout as a church, the interior space is so comfortable and quiet.
The church is always open for public, just for a small donation at the entrance.

Definitely worth a visit. Amazing how detailed the ceiling is and also the religious carving. Very talented people. Tip for visitors: There’s a $5.00 donation to enter the church, and if you want to light a candle, that’s another $2.00.
Pretty church and stained glass Windows.

This Serbian Orthodox Church is built underground into the rocks 🪨. The temperature was cold, very comfortable. The church itself was outstanding, I did not at all expect such a church ⛪ to be out in the Australian Outback. An absolute must see.

Really interesting place to visit. A church built underground and has all the normal icons, furniture and pictures of a normal church

A beautiful and peaceful refuge in the desert. The church is cut into the side of a rock hill, so it's very cool in summer. The stained glass windows and frescoes are beautiful and you can see how the different cutting machines excavated the walls and arches. Well worth a visit and a chat with the caretaker.

Loved the sombre atmosphere and was dazzled. To hear Byzantine chant in this church would be spectacular! It's open 24/7 but I'd recommend going before dusk. No one was there to attend so if you're planning on going the entry is the door to the far right.

A peaceful and cool church in the dust of Coober Pedy. Not only is the glass artwork amazing, but the amount of skill that has been shown on the rock engraving is simply magical.

Talk about unique - an underground church let alone a Serbian Orthodox Church in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful rock carvings of religious scenes and classy carving into the rock to create the venue itself. The church is open 24 hours
