Spectacular scenery at every turn. Roads were good - we even had a semi-offroad caravan in tow. There's a place to stop up top one of the hills which gives a great panoramic view.

What a breathtaking experience. It's completely remote and on a dirt road of about 20 km but totally worth the visit. There are so many spectacular views of mountains and plains, it's beautiful.

Exceptionally beautiful .It's not far off the Stuart Highway .Drive to the main lookout ...even if you don't have time to go to other "side views" along the way .The area has ceremonial significance for at least 3 indigenous nations .I saw it in June .The area had just had some rare rain ...look up the story of the two dingos .one photo shows side by side hills .Two dingos of different colour .

A 'must see' when visiting Coober Pedy. Not too far north of town and you can drive through and come back into town from the eastern end. You will also drive past the Dog Fence. Road is a good dirt track. The scenery is beautiful. Like a moonscape. Lots of colours.

The best light is at sunset, but sunrise also does not disappoint! Don’t forget to stop in at the Coober Pedy Visitor Information Centre to grab your permit to visit - $10 per vehicle, or $8 concession.
The road to access the Breakaways (from both directions) is one of the nicest dirt roads I’ve driven anywhere in Australia.
Make sure you drive the loop from Coober Pedy as it’s a stunning drive!

Great place to watch the sunset, road is a bit rough but if you take it easy you will be ok, or you can do a tour out there.

Stunning landscape. We spent time investigating the area and doing a few walks. The colours of the breakaways are diverse and stand out against the rest of the surrounding landscape.

Our convoy of cars just follow the group leader. It is going to be bumpy tide, but he gives no clue where he is going to take us.

Sure enough it is a bumpy ride of 5 km dirt road. Fortunately, the road to the destination is dry, and is reachable without a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

We park our cars, still having no clue to expect. We walk towards the rim of the lookout, and what I see is just jaw dropping landscape.

This is a real outback scenery, presenting itself as a beautiful subject for an Australian outback painting with km of nothingness, except some rather lonely white dunes on red colour soil.

This reserve was renamed as the Kanku-Breakaways Conservation Park on 19 November 2015. It was once covered by an inland sea, but now it is Aboriginal owned and is a registered aboriginal heritage site.

The reason for the name "Breakaways" is that the area consists of colourful low hills which have broken away from the Stuart Range.

Fantastic, bring your fly net, and pick a nice weather without wind, if you have a drone, it is a great place to fly it around, we only came here for the sunset, it’s nice, but I believe you can come here anytime, for the sun rise, stars, Milky Way or sunset. Enjoy it, very recommend!

Such stunning landscapes that was so not expected for this area, it is a must if you are visiting Coober Pedy. You can pay the NP fees at the info centre. Bring some food and watch the sunset at one of the lookouts and you will understand how fabulous this place is! Easy drive and make sure you stop at all the signs to read and review what you are looking at.

Fantastic rock formations and colours. Best seen at dawn or sunset. Easy drive from Coober Pedy. In dry weather a 4WD is not required.

One of the greatest places to visit in Coober Pedy, well worth spending a arvo out here and watch the changes at sunrise,
Very hot and dry so bring your water, kids loved the views, and the bird life,
We did the tour with oasis tours from the local oasis caravan park, George is a wealth of knowledge and a seriously funny bloke
