One of our favourite local Japanese restaurant! Their specialty is fusion Japanese, food is full of flavour and beautifully presented. The staffs are so friendly and attentive. Great service.
Project Tokyo is a small place but with really nice ambiance and warm set up.

Their food is top notch, really good quality and delicious. I personally love their Wagyu Beef Tataki, Yuzu King Fish Carpaccio, Edamame, Chicken Karaage, Gyoza Prawns, Okonomiyaki and Signature Teriyaki Plate Salmon. They are so well cooked, so much flavour and so yummy. We usually like to finish with dessert too. Green tea ice cream, their version of creme brulee and chocolate cheesecake are all great choices to finish the meal.

Highly recommend this little gem to people who loves Japanese food. Their food, warm and friendly service, great dining experience will make you want to return again and again 😊

One of the best Japanese restaurants in Australia. Magnificent authentic Japanese food with fantastic presentation. So cheap for food of this quality. It should not be so easy to get a table here. If this restaurant was in Melbourne you would have to book 6 months in advance.

This place has amazing flavours and food. This little gem is tucked away from the beach side of the highway. The service is great, food is fresh and flavoursome and a large selection of drinks. My wife I really enjoyed every meal we selected of the menu. Price is really reasonable for the quality meals you get. Definitely a place to checkout if all the popular spots are booked out or need a last minute place to go out for.

Had a great experience, can’t wait to return.

This is Gold Coast’s hidden gem! Everything is fabulous here 👌 The sashimi is the best I’ve ever tasted, melt in your mouth. Everything is fresh and made with so much love. Thank you, your attention to detail and service is top notch and greatly appreciated 🙏

POPCORN PRAWNS A MUST!
The second time I have been here and it gets better each time. Not only did the owner (Franz) and manager (Josh) remember us, they welcomed us and everyone with an open and big smile - just like friends!
The set menu we had was Omakase Puremiamu. Highly recommended for $55ea.
We had the edamame beans, beautifully presented and coated with a sprinkling of sea salt and sesame seeds.
Then came the delicious Lotus chips with a very mild chilli sauce. I don't like chilli and this was deliciously flavoured.
The next one was the seared tuna sashimi. Yum! The kingfish which followed had jalapenos (easy to discard if you don't like).
My absolute favourite was next! The prawn popcorn! It had a mild chilli garlic aioli and wasabi peas. I could have eaten this all night!!!
The Wagyu beef Kushi was so tender!
Tempura salmon sushi rolls were next on the menu and food did not disappoint.
The dessert was divine!
Service here is impeccable. The waiter was accommodating, the food was Devine and the chef knows her stuff!
I cannot fault this place and would score higher if I could!

What a neighbourhood gem. Located in Markeri Food in Mermaid Waters, this Japanese Restaurant has a lot going for it. From the well appointed decor to the friendly, courteous and efficient staff this place rates very highly. And, as for the food. Beautifully prepared and presented Project Tokyo is well worth tracking down if you enjo light and flavoursome Japanese cuisine. Top marks to everyone involved.

MAGNIFICENT FOOD

My wife and I made a booking for this Restaurant through First Table and it has been one of the best Restaurants we have dined at on the Gold Coast. The food was truly magnificent and the presentation was brilliant. There were 4 people working in the kitchen and 2 waiters. Virtually no waiting time even as the Restaurant got busy. There is easy access for walkers and wheelchairs. The toilets are not in the Restaurant but across the carpark as they are part of the shopping centre complex. The toilets were clean and well maintained. The Restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating and making a booking is highly recommended. The Restaurant opened 5 months ago and is obviously very popular. The staff were so accommodating, knowledgeable and delightful to talk to. The mastery demonstrated in food preparation and the tastes behold the world wide experience of the master chef. I highly recommend the Omakase Besuto dinner course. You will not be disappointed.

A hidden gem (in suburbia)!! I recently been to a high class restaurant in Brisbane (I won't name it in this review - "Greek/Roman god of wine") which had excellent food, presentation, service and something different. Project Tokyo would in my view be the Japanese god of sake (I did not order sake) equivalent, with the same excellent food, presentation, service and a different twist on Japanese food. Highly recommended!!

I ate the weekend limited Omakase course. All the dishes were delicious. The hospitality of the staff was also wonderful. This is a recommended Japanese restaurant. I want to go again.

Food was sensational and the service from Diego was awesome. Would have loved to see some more types Japanese Beers & Whisky avail. Keep up the great work guys. Definitely worth a visit 👍🏼

Couldn’t be better! Really! The food was simply amazing and the service was awesome! The waiter, I believe is Josh his name (sorry if wrong), he is so friendly and helpful.

Wonderful service. Great omakese range. Food was finely tuned that your tastebuds will love. And to top it off their desert was divine!

After reading numerous 5 star reviews and never hearing about this place we decided to go try it for ourselves, I'm glad we did because we were very impressed with each and every dish that came out, everything from the miso soup to the rump steak was done well, ordering was very easy as well with the iPad, so we know what we were getting, friendly staff as well as and very clean restaurant, will definitely visit again, most importantly very good value, if you do go try go earlier on the weekends because parking may be a little harder to find.

Nice new Japanese in the Makeri St corner of restaurants/shops. Great food and service. Tried their Bento boxes and Ramen on the lunch menu, both very nice, though bit on the pricey side (for lunch). Was lucky to get a complimentary Beef Tataki Yuzu Truffle dish, which was very good.

Amazing food, great service, awesome cocktails, great atmosphere. Super popular restaurant that you have to experience.

We love our Japanese food...can't believe we haven't been here earlier...and will return. Staff were very happy & friendly and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend.

Our table of 4 enjoyed a superb evening of Japanese inspired fusion tapas. We shared 4 signature dishes by Chef Geoff Antse - my personal favourite was Kingfish Sashimi. Duck Spring Rolls were generous, Beef Tataki, Pork Belly & the lightest tempura Scallops. The Cherry Sake recommendation by Franz was very well enjoyed. Service & staff both excellent. Thank you Team Project Tokyo - We will return.
