Combined Martial Arts Academy

I enrolled my daughter 3 months ago as referred by a friend. My daughter is quite a little fire cracker and struggles with remaining focused as well as discipline issues (typical 5yr old). Since joining, her focus and attention has improved and is evident through her school work and home life. I love the talks Kyoshi Bill has with the kids. They sit in their circle, with respect and admiration in their eyes as they learn life skills. The environment is supportive, the training A Grade and the dojo warm and welcoming. Thank you Kyoshi Bill and Mr Finlay for welcoming our family into the world of Karate!

My son has been going to Combine Martial Arts for a couple of months now and he really enjoys going. Learning new skills everytime and getting more confident and fit.
Sensei Kyoshi is passionate with his teaching which shows in his classes. All the staff are lovely and everyone is so supportive of each other. I highly recommend CMA

I’m 61 years old and I needed a way to transform my fitness and ultimately, my long term health. I, and my 17 year old autistic daughter enrolled back in April and we are now green belts with Combined Martial arts. For both of us it has been a total life-changing event. I can’t exactly pin down what the magic is that makes this work but I can say that the instructors are amazing and understanding (particularly Kyoshi Bill), and the adult classes we attend are made up of friendly, amazing people who really WANT to learn. I’d give them six stars if it were possible.

What an amazing Martial Arts school. The instructors are so amazing with the kids always using positive reinforcement. We put my eldest in to lessons after a bullying incident at kindy and he’s loved it since day one. The confidence it’s given him in his overall life is amazing. My little one has just started an absolute loves it as well.
I can’t thank them enough for their ongoing support and encouragement for our kids.

My 8 year old and 7 year old boys both do karate at Combined Martial Arts and recently my boys have encouraged me to join too!

We have all learnt so much. Confidence, strength and respect for ourselves and others. We have also gained new friendships in what is an incredibly close knit organisation who strives to help each and every member. I am very glad I chose CMA and hope to continue going until all 3 of us are black belts.

Attention parents! Combined Martial Arts is one place I highly recommend for your children. Owner Bill Wakefield is a phenomenal teacher and the level of attention, focus and respect he gets in the room from the children is amazing. The experience and skill level is unreal and I always enjoy watching my 6yo on a weekend in his karate classes, to then come home and see him motivated to perform what he has learn't on not only a physical skill level but also well taught and empowering life lessons that I notice my boy using daily. The kids love it and I am certain being there will motivate you too.

My 8 year old son was very shy and not very confident until he started at Combined Martial Arts Academy. He is now a totally different boy. He is happy, more confident and determined. My 13 year old daughter attends also and we have comfort in knowing she is getting fit as well as learning self defence. I highly recommend CMAA and believe this should be compulsory for all children.

My kids enjoys it the team is amazing. I have done karate myself on younger age so i do wanted my kids to learn it to for discipline strenghtening and for focus so far they enjoy it theyre really young so hopefully they can transform in this amazing academy and bloom to better person over time im hoping. so far i see greatness in this team the dedication and kindness and also patience . To teach young ones this art is really hard but theyre good at it so its awesome 👌 kids love it they dont even want to leave after training 😂❤ its fun for the kids so i think thats the main thing they are having fun doing it .

My daughters joined the little ninjas class recently. They love it. We have noticed that it helped them to have more confidence in themselves, & to learn how to regulate their emotions.

Bill "Kyoshi" is an excellent instructor and does wonders for children's confidence and self defence. My two boys have trained with Kyoshi from the ages of 3 and what it has done for their self confidence is amazing.

Absolutely such an amazing place to have your kids going here. Kyoshi Bill and the rest of the team/teachers are so good to the students. Teachings them to have respect for themselves and others and know how to protect themselves from the bad. It has taught our daughter so much and she absolutely loves the place 🥋. My daughter absolutely loves her classes and looks forward to it every lesson. I don't have to nag her she nags me! I love the positive changes these classes have made to her. Highly recommend these guys, the staff are great and the Senseis know their stuff!

Both of my girls have trained at CMA for the past year. Miss 11's co-ordination and reflexes have improved and Miss 8 has come out of her shell and has confidence to speak up in public suitations. Never once have I had to argue with them about going. Bill and his sensei's as well as the leaders amoung the club are always available to help and very approachable. My girls have gone onto include weapons training as well as attending competitions which has taught them the pressure of competing in a fun environment.

Bill and the entire team at the Combined Martial Arts Academy do a fantastic job empowering people and building their confidence. Each teacher truly cares about you and wants to see a positive change in your life. They demonstrate a passion to helping others and value the respect each and every person deserves. I experienced an unfortunate circumstance last year which causes massive anxiety attacks and makes me feel vulnerable. I was introduced to one of Bill's self defense classes through the counselling centre I attend and instantly felt a difference. In fact just a couple of weeks later I was out with a friend and were harassed by two men, one grabbed my wrist and using a technique learned from the class I got out of it and my friend pushed the other away. We firmly told them to leave us alone and hastily left. In the past I would have froze and shown fear, however I felt confident enough to stand up for myself and safely leave. I'm improving more with each class and highly recommend everyone come and try it out for themselves.

CMA has been great for fitness & self defence for my wife, and confidence, discipline, motor skills, etc. for our son. The instructors are great, and there's a very family-like atmosphere. Highly recommend CMA for children and adults.

We have watched our daughter grow so much in her 4 years of training at C.M.A. She has gone from a shy reserved little girl to the 2018 Queensland, Australia and The World Champion in Traditional Forms. Under the coaching of Kyoshi Bill Wakefield, Angel has learnt to defend and to stand up for herself against bullies, we feel she has been given the tools to face life head on and we have Karate and CMA for that.

Highly recommend CMA. My son has built a lot of confidence in just a few weeks and enjoys learning new skills
