Tomaree National Park is in such a cool spot, surrounded by awesome beaches and restaurants. The Summit walk is a bit of a challenge, but let me tell you, the view totally makes it worth it! If you're up for some climbing and walking, definitely give this Grade 5 walk a go. That 360-degree view is something everyone should experience – totally recommend it!

This is a wonderful national Park comprising of a few varied sections, from beach, to coves and rockpools, mountains, and walks. You can walk the entire coast of it along a trail or just visit sections.

It's one of the best coastal national parks I've ever been to

Highlights are the tomaree mountain walk and rocky couldron but none of the sections are bad

Beautiful scenery up there on the Tomaree hill. Elevation about only 100meters-ish. Beginner can hike quite easy. My suggestion wear your walking shoes.
If you are lucky you can see the killer whale jump off the water.

This place also a historic place where once there was a fortress. You still can see the the building, it’s built on WW II

Been in and around Tomaree national park many time over many years. This time ducked down a little road to find a place called Big Rocky. Really nice spot!

Amazing park with lots of separate sections. Coastal walk is a winner.
Late winter and early spring wildflowers including terrestrial orchids are exceptional

Magical place and well worth a visit. Great walking trails which follow the stunning coastline and into the beautiful forests. Lots more to explore so we will be back!

Beautiful walk around the national park. The walk which is mild to moderate Intensity takes you to historical ww 1 gun embankments, there's also a path to the summit which is about 30 minutes intensity with a mixture of gravel path, steps and steel bridges.you are absolutely rewarded on the top. Kid friendly walk

As if this could get any better, then whale season rolls around and you've got your pick of miles and miles of scenic trails and mountains to pick a spot from, I won't say where this spot is, as I'm keeping that one to myself 🤣👍

Some people run to the top, some walk while chatting all the way, some do it tough. If you're like me, take it easy, stop often and don't give up. The beautiful views are your reward at the end, not to forget the massive sense of achievement you will feel.
Take it easy on the way down too, it can be hard on the knees.
Other walkers were encouraging and friendly.
Give it a go, it is so worth it.

Want great views over the bushland and beaches? Come here! A short, but amazing walk, it may be a bit steep, but worth every step. National Parks have done an amazing job here. Awesome!

The views from the top of the mountain is spectacular. The walk is just over 1 km to the top. All the tracks are well looked after but some parts are a steep climb. It’s a good workout but well worth the views. The other side of the park has the old gun towers. Worth the trip also.

Tomaree head summit walk - Best place to visit in Nelson Bay Area. approx. 1 km distance with flat, steep and stairs mix. but after all those efforts, you will see the amazing view with easily visible dolphins, if you are luck enough as I was. please check out the attached photos and enjoy the place while sitting at home ;)

We did the walk to the summit at Tomaree lookout, it was a challenging and steep climb up with quite a few stairs however the view from the top is absolutely stunning and absolutely worth the walk. There are benches at regular intervals along the path, for those of us who need to stop and rest on the climb. The walk back down was easy and pleasant. Absolutely gorgeous almost 360 degree views of all the surrounding beaches and bays. If you are a tourist or a visitor to the area, I would highly recommend this walk.

Within easy reach of Nelson’s Bay. A must do if you are in the area to get a great view of the heads, bays and ocean. The track is easy to get to from the car park. It is paved all the way to the top. steep in some sections but take your time and you will be up there in no time.

Tomaree Mountain located at the end of Shoal Bay, incredible view for many miles in all directions, amazing photo opportunities. Climbing the mountain is a popular activity with both tourists and locals alike, can be a little narrow in places but that's not really a problem except when it's crowded. The 1.1km climb to the top is quite steep and depending on your pace can take between a cracking 20 minutes to a leisurely hour (roughly the same on the way back down).

It is quite a long walk but there is a good mix of slope and stairs to climb on . Definitely worth the climb !

This was a great drive. The road was well graveled so even 2 wheel drives could get down there.
