Lock's Paddock

Beautiful dining experience. I can highly recommend the Kingfish Ceviche and Cacio e Pepe paired with a nice Negroni. The restaurant feels very nice and intimate, great fun energy among chefs in the kitchen and all staff were so lovely. I loved it!

Food was really yummy. The Muscles are rich in flavour. Scallops cooked to perfection and the King fish explodes with flavours in your mouth. Have to say no juices and no deserts in the menu is disappointing. Great place to eat on Newcastle so far. 👍🙃

Yes - go, book it, walk in.. whatever. You will be looked after. One thing I always notice here is that every customer gets attention from the staff (and the cowboy shaped owner - who greets every customer, gives thanks for dining in, and gives goodbyes before he rides off into the sunset). He even let me hold his gun and shoot some targets he had set up in the back alley which was a nice touch.

The food here is outstanding. Don’t think too much about what you want just let your stomach guide you.. it’s all good!!! Grab the bench seat that stares into the kitchen for an experience which takes you out of Newcastle and into a rustic New York deli. You watch your food being prepared (or at least guess if it’s yours while you have a laugh with the chefs) and hang out with all the cured meats lining the bar.

The lovely Georgia saw our table and provided her recommendations which didn’t fail to impress. The mushroom risotto was a table favourite! Oh and the pork empanadas obviously slap.

Will always return here. Our guest for the night was a rural kiwi who loved the whole experience. Always good to leave knowing you nailed the restaurant choice.

10/10 locks paddock.

(PS there was no gun shooting but they should definitely look into that as a menu item)

Put aside for the moment the food and wine which were exceptional - this is just a fun place to eat. The staff are attentive without being intrusive and it is obvious everyone who works there wants to be there and is focused on giving you a quirky dining experience. Before you order do yourself a favour by reading the last couple of pages of the menu - that will get your headspace where it needs to be to ensure a memorable dining experience.

We ate dinner here last night for the 1st time. The food & wine were delicious & there was plenty of food & wine to choose from. The staff were so friendly & helpful from the time we entered & especially when deciding from the menu. Would highly recommend this place to anyone. A special shout out to waitress Charlotte👍🏻. Empanadas are so yummy 🤤. To try the pasta with truffle cheese is a must to see how they serve it.

We’ve just arrived home after what was an amazing experience at Lock’s Paddock. From the moment we walked in we felt so comfortable and welcomed. The vibe is so genuine and the food is exceptional and extremely well priced. We’ve already booked to dine again in two weeks as there are items we are keen to try. It was a busy hot evening but our waitress George or G as we called her, gave us the best service. always checking to see if we were ok, topping up our water. The food is fresh and different. George had a great sense of humour, she was sad to have to kick us out as other people were waiting for our table. One of the best nights I have ever had.

Walked in solo on a monday night and the owner was happy to get me in. Great menu and an excellent wine list highlighting the area. Service was top top notch and food was delicious with a great vibe. Ate far too much (which I was told as I ordered) but well worth it. See ya when you're back in Sydney mate

Amazing food - tasty, fresh, and delicious. Great vibe, attentive service, great wine choices. Loved our evening. Go a bunch of small or large plates and share with your mates so you can try as much as you can. Yum.

After being turned away twice from other places for being a solo diner I was welcomed to lock’s paddock.

The owner Nick is all over the place making sure things are taken care of and you can tell there is real passion behind the business.

The extra mile was taken, such as chilling a red wine to suit my personal taste at their busiest hour out of nothing but kindness.

Another server, George, was super cool and took care of me faultlessly.

I mostly had Wine here, so can attest the wine menu is great. Had one small plate which was yummy but heard others around me exclaiming positives about their larger orders of food.

Wishing this business the absolute best in their future, definitely a staple in any visit to Newwy

The food was amazing but somehow the service was better! Thank you George for being so lovely! Even though the restaurant was booked out she still made time to check in and have a chat to us about the food and make sure we were okay every once in a while. Loved the vibe here.

Incredible experience from the booking right through to goodbye. The food is divine and the range of wine is increbile. Nick, the owner's attention to detail, his team's service and last but not least the food, oh the food, and you leave becoming part of the family -wanting to return.

This is a must if you want a quality culinary experience and appreciate quality wine...

We ordered 5 dishes - which wasn’t an easy number to stop at, given the various other fantastic options available - and not one was a dud.
All were superb.

Had lunch with a small group. Nice vibe for wine and snack. Good selection of food. More tapas style than a full meal, perfect for girl’s day out.

It’s not cheap but the quality of the ingredients and dish does shine through.

Whilst visiting Newcastle, my bestie shouted me dinner at Lock’s. The table service was outstanding and the staff couldn’t do enough to make sure we were well looked after and accommodated dietary requirements where they could. Delicious food and great atmosphere

100% recommend this amazing place. The Cacio e Pepe was one of the best meals I have ever had to date!! The staff were so friendly and accommodating as we had our 15 month old with us for dinner. Nothing to fault, everything was outstanding. Thank you, we will be back many more times.

I would highly recommend this place. We strolled by and decided to try for dinner last Thursday night. Already busy but the wonderful staff managed to find us a table straight away. The food was absolutely delicious, we tried the mushroom gnocchi and the wagyu linguini and the kangaroo for entree. Service was excellent.
