Lovely dishes with good honest service.
The scallops and the rockmelon & prosciutto salad were great starters. The shared paella for main was filling with plenty of seafood. We shared the popcorn panna cotta for dessert: a perfect panna cotta, a wonderful salted caramel sauce, but not so sure about the popcorn.

We went here for my birthday dinner and absolutely wasn't disappointed.

Great view, smaller dining area but leads to better ambiance and you can actually hear each other talk.

Arrancini balls and pork belly to die for for entree we had with the ravioli and duck for mains. We will 100% return

3rd time here, and can't wait for the 4th. Never disappoints.

Paymasters is a consistent jewel in Newcastle's collection of quality restaurants. Probably a little under-rescourced when hosting large bookings, but otherwise near perfect. (Looks like a well stocked wine menu too.)

Top notch, we say on the upstairs Verandah and enjoyed some first class cocktails before our party of four tucked into the best veal scalepini, prawn risotto, beef carpaccio we have had in long time, combine that with a great outlook over the Hunter river and super staff a great night was ensured.

• Been here over 20 times.
• Refuse to eat any other pancakes after trying theirs.
• New chilli breakfast is awesome and hope it stays.
• Bring back the chorizo and apple salad from 2014.
• Pork in asian broth is the best thing I've had lately. Regretted not ordering it as a main.

Absolutely delicious and staff were great.

The perfect New year's Eve breakfast. The juices here are extra fresh and both the pancakes and the eggs Benedict we had were wonderful. Relaxed atmosphere with the front window thrown open for a view over the park to the water and shipping yard which is a great reminder of the history of the building.

Paymasters never disappoints. The food is wonderful and the menu filled with choice. The dishes are innovative and always extremely tasty. Chef Randolph is a friendly host with great attention to detail. The views are lovely and the staff extremely helpful. A great restaurant for any occasion. One of our favourites.

...all superb. Also, there are always new items added to the menu....we recently tried the new Corn Bread entree and it was absolutely amazing.....the prawn linguine was also amazing. Really, everything is great, the pancake stack is enormous. AAAAA+++++

We had a lovely dinner and the staff were attentive and friendly.

We are from Sydney and wanted a nice restaurant to have a surprise birthday dinner for our dear friend in Newcastle. Couldn't have chosen a better place! Staff were very friendly and helpful, food was delicious and all for a reasonable price. Thank you Bruce and all the staff at Paymasters we had a great evening.

Consistently incredible food, wonderful customer service and an overall great experience. I've been coming here for years and every time is perfect without fault. Plenty of gluten free options and a great menu selection, highly recommend the garlic prawns! This is one of my favourite restaurants and is perfect for date nights or a birthday lunch. Highly recommend!

Lovely staff, venue, location and service. The savoury French Toast was an interesting variation on the standard breakfast fare.

Just a lovely restaurant to enjoy nice food overlooking the mouth of the river and gardens. Watching the large ships go by. Upstairs balcony was so peaceful. Birds chirping in the trees close by. No noisy traffic. I would recommend the garlic prawns. The duck looked a little undercooked for my liking but I wasn’t eating it. If I had I probably would have requested it be cook for longer. Fyi if you don’t like your cooked duck rare. The salad was fresh with the nicest dressing ever. We are looking forward to returning one day soon

Another thoroughly enjoyable experience at Paymasters. Food is phenomenal and the staff are friendly and helpful.
