Max's Restaurant

An absolute institution of the Mornington Peninsula. Max’s Restaurant has the most incredible views of western port bay of all the peninsula. The fresh produce used for the seasonal menu is perfectly paired with wines from the cellar door of Red Hill Estate. We had an amazing long lunch with impeccable. service. We will definitely be back!

With a recommendation from a friend, we took a friend for her birthday. You will not be disappointed by the food nor the service. The selection of wine to Compliment each dish you ate. The expresso Martini made fresh to order. The food, and I highly recommend doing a taster, entree, main and dessert. I left almost 3 hours later fully satisfied and the service was impeccable. I will be returning again. Thank you for a lovely lunch experience.

Wonderful food great service and amazing atmosphere!

My partner and I arrived at Max's for a Thursday lunch and were greeted very kindly at the door. I requested to have a table overlooking the vineyard in my online booking, and was delighted to be taken to our table overlooking the entire vineyard and an ocean view! The kind waitress also gave us complimentary bread which was amazing!

My partner and I ordered 3 courses with appetisers. We began with the cauliflower croquettes for appetisers, which were light crispy and delicious. For entrees we ordered the kangaroo carpaccio - which was good, but we both found to be slightly lacking in flavour, and the seared scallops and tuna, which was absolutely incredible and tasted beautiful! For our mains we ordered the lamb shoulder and beef steak with a side of their chips and needless to say, everything here was perfect. The lamb was falling apart with my fork, and tasted amazing. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare and had a wonderful complexity of flavours. The chips had a lovely crunch and the accompanying aoli was lovely too! Lastly for dessert, we both ordered the parfait of dark chocolate, which for me was a little bit too rich, however my partner loved it, and the combination of chocolate, salted caramel and berries worked very well together.

All-in-all a wonderful winery with a lovely selection of in house wines (I reccomed the shiraz), with beautiful food, service, and atmosphere.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere. The beef cheek with mash, the potato chips and the panna cotta were delicious! Max and Marcus are lovely, and all of the wait staff were too. Highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion.

The best meal I have had in a long time. Lisa and Amanda were wonderful looking after us. I learnt a lot about the local wines, and loved the Pinot noir Lisa recommended. Views to die for. The steak was literally the best I have had in many years. And truffles! Will definitely be back.

We had a delightful lunch at maxs restaurant, the atmosphere from when you walked through the door was warm and inviting greeted with friendly service and seated promptly with views to die for!

The food was phenomenal the ratatouille tart tasted like a hug on a plate, the porchetta was aromatic and perfectly cooked with a thin crackling layer, the eye fillet was perfectly cooked with just the right of peppercorn sauce to give it a kick but not to over power. We have left with smiles on our faces from dining here and a bottle of the olive oil and balsamic
Which comes complementary with the bread as a nice little starter.

WOW fine dining at its best. Excellent curated menu and lovely wine to match. The staff are vibrant and friendly. The atmosphere is spontaneous. The food was full flavoured and I wanted to savour every bite. Very enjoyable experience. Thank you

Beautiful location, attentive staff and really delicious food. I did as part of their mushroom foraging experience. Max was great fun and a super host with Daniel. Of course the wine was amazing since the cellar door is next to the restaurant!

Amazing restaurant, great food, great quality ingredients, friendly staff

I have travelled the globe on business entertaining clients as part of my role with the company. I booked a for 4 for lunch and sat overlooking the vineyard toward Phillip Island and Bass Straight which blew my guests away with the stunning vista. Then the food arrived with companying wines and what could we say but amazing. This would have to be one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The service was subtle but friendly and not interrupting our business lunch. Go there you will be surprised

Went as a group of 4 and we all loved and enjoyed the time and food at Max's. The service from the team was fantastic and helpful. Food was very on point. Albeit the selection wasn't large, everything was delicious. Wines were really good too.

We had a lovely Sunday roast. Would have like more than one slice of meat and my pud was a bit burnt. There were other tables of people there and their menu looked great too, I believe they were there for the truffle menu.

The quality of the food, service and venue all made for an enjoyable evening. Would definitely recommend and will be back even if it’s for the beautiful rainbow
