Just by chance, found this Restaurant driving through Redhill. Immediately impressed by the smoke ovens and the welcoming feel. Menu easy to read and plenty of options available including kids menu. We enjoyed the Grass-Fed Beef Brisket and Free-Range pork ribs. Food was delicious. Staff are friendly and the venue is comfortable and relaxing. Only slight downside is the limited parking.

Could not fault the food or drinks in terms of variety, taste, presentation and value for money. The staff were very efficient and friendly, taking allergens also very seriously. We regularly come to RedGum BBQ for special occasions (travelling an hour to get there) and it is well worth it everytime! Thank you so much to everyone involved for a beautiful Valentines Day celebration! Can’t wait to come back ❤❤

There is literally nothing to not love about this place. Booking a table online was a piece of cake, and even though we arrived early, the friendly staff didn’t bat an eye and found a great spot for us. Even though we’d been before (a while back now) we still let the waiter explain the menu. One nice touch was letting us know to put our menus in a certain spot when we’re ready to order. A simple and efficient way of asking for service without asking for service. Once our food arrived, it was all amazing. I mean, we knew it would be because we’ve been before, but if anything it was even better this time. The cornbread is easily the best I’ve had, and (sorry, not sorry) that includes my wife’s homemade cornbread. The brisket and pork ribs were outstanding. Juicy, tender and flavoursome. The Mac and cheese was great too. But the big surprise was the broccoli salad. Now, I like broccoli, but this was next level! The (beer) tasting paddle was also great and didn’t feel like there were any fillers in the lineup. Particularly good were the two lagers. So great food and service topped off with a cool environment with a great buzz about it. Next time we’ll come with a bigger group.

The only bbq place of note down on the peninsula, this place will not disappoint meat lovers. Yes it is on the pricey side, but you're in Red Hill (where everything is expensive) and the meat they use is top quality.
Can recommend the pulled pork. I'm normally not a fan but tried it here and it was my favourite dish. Kids meals are also good value with large portions.

Had a wonderful visit.

Clean venue whose amazing smoke smells invites passers-by in.

Had a nice chat with Melissa (one of the owners), Brando (I hope this is right, but the pitmaster), and a few other kind members of their staff. Everyone here was delightful. Brando was even kind enough to show us the smokers and how they operate.

Maybe the most important part - the food. Wow.
We ordered..
The brisket, pulled pork, jalapeno & cheese sausage, and pork ribs.
The pork ribs were pretty darn good. Everything else was seriously amazing. It's a hour drive from the city - well worth it.

Highly recommend. I know I'll definitely be back.

As an American who moved to Melbourne 4.5 years ago from North Carolina, eating bbq outside of the US is risky - you never know what you’ll get. From the minute we walked up and the smell of the smokers wafted around us, I knew we were in for a treat. I literally teared up, it smelled like home! The trays and baking paper the meals were served on looked like a traditional NC bbq place! And most important of all, the food was delicious and expertly prepared. Absolutely without a doubt the best bbq restaurant in Australia by a mile!! Every single thing we tried was good including dessert. The service was phenomenal. Highly recommend. Thanks RGB for giving me a taste of home 🐖 🥒 🐄 🧀

We got takeaway, we tried most of the meat menu... it was all really nice.
I'd recommend going here.
Can't comment on full service, however the little we had was ok.. they didn't actively seek out why we were standing there, just looked at us odly until we spoke first, so no hi or welcome... but that was the extent of our service interactions so not judging really on that..
The lamb ribs were delicious, the pork ribs to... the beef rib was very very peppery, but the meat was cooked beautifully.. the chicken wings were yummy, the chicken breast was slightly dry but still really tasty and fresh and healthy tasting. The brisket was so tender and really really delicious.... If you like meat , go here for sure.

A top-notch American BBQ joint with a great vibe and delicious food. Highly recommend it to anyone visiting Mornington.

The slow-cooked beef ribs and pork belly are the best on the menu!

Great food, classic American BBQ...
Tried the brisket, pulled pork, pork ribs, pickles, slaw & white bread. No complaints, great smoke rings and a good bark on the meat... Sauces were good, beer was delicious... they were out of Buffalo wings... which is a shame...

The only place I’d feel comfortable recommending an American BBQ place in Australia so far. I’ve been to a fair few others in Melb that had been high regarded and recommended to me… and they’ve all been disappointing. Not even close to how it is in the US. This place is the real deal. Their brisket is ridiculously tender, their beef ribs are great and just as juicy. Pork ribs are amazing, and the sausage is definitely one you won’t want to miss.
Absolutely highly recommend this place. Went here absolutely skeptical with the thought of “ok… here we go again. Aussies don’t know how to make American BBQ”, and walked o it a HUGE fan of this place.
To my American peeps, this is the place you want to go to. Not the other phoney places. 😉

I can't compare with the original American BBQ but is was delicious! The chilli fries fresh and good, corn bread Lovely, beef AMAZING we now know we have to bug more of it! The trip there is beautiful, the views of the ocean are stunning! The place is BIG, they have an indoor space for kids/toddlers to play with mini smoker, kitchen, dolls etc which make it an awesome place to go with the family if you want, very enjoyable atmosphere and the food great! We will definitely go back

As a fellow American and a connoisseur of American BBQ, this place is out of this world. On literally the opposite side (and hemisphere) of the U.S., Martin is doing something amazing. The food, the service, the casual nature of how the restaurant is setup is a nod to American cuisine and culture. The portions are generous - I left feeling so full. I even had some dessert. Yes, it’s on the pricey side, but what do you expect for delicious, high-quality meat, smoked all day and night? Love how people complain about the price but feel they’re justified to spend $150 on a tasting menu where you get 1/2 of the portion of food here.

For those who have this place rated at 4.3 stars, I have one word for you: nothing. You do not know good food if it hit you in your face. Take your mouth over to your 10th 20-course degustation of yet another modern Australian restaurant. No hate to those places but this place is a gem. Keep it up Martin and team!

P.p.s. For those who say the cornbread is meh. You don’t know cornbread. Please take your attitude someplace else. Cornbread is life and that’s all I have to say.

A hidden gem. Food was delish! And legit! You get to sit next to the smokers and watch the pit crew at work.

Awesome American style BBQ, great ribs and brisket! Interesting cocktails and really great to see the drinks; beer, cider, wine, spirits etc are all local. We’ll be back!

And here I was thinking I could eat this platter for two all on my own! Boy, was I wrong. The food was amazing and very filling. I left this place very happy.

Great atmosphere, fast service, fantastic menu. The highlight for me was the corn bread. That alone will bring me back.

One of the best BBQ in Victoria hands down. Pork, beef, chicken and even vegetarian options available. Everything is cooked to perfection. Prices might be a bit steep and some side options are not really worth it (I'm talking to you little dish of "raw broccoli"). Staff is friendly but be aware this place gets packed, so book ahead and be ready for a bit of a wait. Tables, benches and floor is all sticky so maybe don't bring your best thongs.

We visited for lunch today and absolutely loved it. We loved that it is a kid friendly venue with a kids play area as we can’t go anywhere without the kids having somewhere to play. The food was lovely and service was great. It was a very comfortable experience for us as a family. It’s rare to find somewhere that is so family friendly with yummy food. We ordered from the feed me menu “happy as a pig” and we were just that! My favourite was the smoked chicken and the corn bread. Thanks for being an awesome place. We’ll definitely be back!

I really enjoyed everything about this place. The service was so great, everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Food and drinks were spot on.. BBQ was juicy, tender and very tasty. Cornbread was very sweet but so yum. Mac n cheese was very bitey, loads of cheese flavour. Coleslaw was creamy and crunchy. Pickles were a great contrast for the fatty meat. A very enjoyable meal and dining experience. The only negatives is that there is no sign to show you where the restaurant is, it was odd. Lastly I left smelling of bbq smoke BUT a very small price to pay. Loved it 🧡

Located in a rustic looking warehouse yet decked out with aesthetically pleasing, and comfortable wooden furniture and decor inside. They also have giant smokers like the ones you normally see on TV! The food was good in general - but the highlights were definitely the smoked chicken, beef brisket and corn bread. They were worth the drive there for! Great for kids, events and people who craves Texas-style food (and portion)!
