The Bay Restaurant

Some of the best food we’ve had on our Tassie trip! Everything was so fresh and delicious but especially the spicy scallops, the pipi cheese and the lamb main course. The cocktails were delicious too!

They also have amazing view of a private bay to the lodge. Highly recommend to drop by and enjoy the food and the view even if you are not staying at the Lodge.

Today I turned 30 and came to the lodge for dinner with my mum. We had an incredible dinner and then ordered dessert. When ordering my mum mentioned it was my birthday. My dessert arrived and to my surprise said happy birthday! I was over the moon! Then when paying the bill they said my dessert was free as it’s my birthday!

Big thank you to all involved in my experience tonight! 5 star restaurant and staff in my opinion :)

Also do try the beef short ribs, it’s so good it melts in your mouth. And if you can go earlier at 6-7pm will be good, you can catch the sunset.

We stayed at the lodged on our holidays so we decided to have dinner at The Bay. Just in time for sunset!

All staff on the night gave us exceptional service! Food was delicious! Highly recommended the Lobster pasta! Beautiful night to remember!

Some top notch food being served here! We had both dinner and breakfast here, and they were of very high quality. Complimentary bread with locally made salt pepper spicy crumb and butter. For dinner we then had the Cape Grim eye fillet steak with white polenta mash and the pan fried fish of the day, followed by the Dark Pearl for dessert. These were all exceptional and the taste was delicious, perfectly balanced. The accompanying wine made the meal. Our waiter Pablo was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. I cannot fault a lovely evening meal. Breakfast was a La carte too, comprising the Pan Fried Scottsdale Thick Cut Maple Bacon and the Smoked Salmon Benedict accompanied by Orange Juice and Flat Whites. A delicious breakfast. Freycinet lodge itself is a little tired and needs a refit, but the location is stunning.

Absolutely lovely meals, could not fault a thing, the oysters were so fresh, the steak and fish just as impressive. The staff are so polite, and a credit to the tourism industry. The access to the restaurant did involve some stairs, but the actual restaurant area is flat.
Prices for mains roughly $45 each. Coffee was full bodied and creamy.We did not have dessert, so cannot comment.
The view at the Bay Restaurant is surreal,just stunning from all angles, the water is clear as glass.
Would be wheelchair friendly, in some areas.
I am glad we visited this beautiful, pristine part of Tasmania.

Best date night ever. The service was impeccable. I haven't had food so good often in my life. The pork was to die for and the sauce exquisite. The accompanying Merlot was a perfect pairing. The lemon dessert almost infallible. What an incredible experience. I'll be savouring those flavours for years to come.

Visiting from interstate, we decided to come here for a friends birthday dinner and had a nice experience!

Excellent food, in particular the desserts! Service from the team was also great from beginning to end - would recommend this local gem to anyone in the area!

It's no surprise this is a multiple award winning restaurant. While the decor is a little dated, the view is stunning and the food absolutely on point, while the friendly staff are the icing on the cake. If you find yourself in Freycinet, it's a dining experience not to be missed.

We ended up dinning twice in this spot in 1 week! Words are not enough to express how amazing the staff are at The Bay Restaurant, big shout out to Pablo and Marie. It was worth the long and windy round trip from Swansea when we managed to secure a 6 pax table via a last minute phone booking on 4 Dec.

Watching the sunset and taking pictures before the mains were served sets the tone and expectations for our evening. Every element was heartfelt, from the warm bread with 6 accompaniments showcasing Tasmania produce; grilled calamari starter, the seafood platter, the T-bone steak with a wonderful sauce and butter, the aged duck and deserts. We all had different favourites at the end of the meal.

We had a lovely meal! The oysters to start were delicious and the duck main was absolutely fantastic and a must-try. My personal highlight was the old fashioned, which was truly delicious!

This restaurant was open at 2:30pm for lunch and that was a big win for us. Not only that but also the food options and high quality/presentation , the cozy atmosphere and the amazing view made our experience the one to remember.
I also want to thank the team, I left my Gucci Shawl in the restaurant and I noticed when I was 2 hrs drive away from restaurant. I called them and they confirmed my shawl is there and they kindly sent it by post to me.

The view from this restaurant is spectacular and the food here was absolutely delicious. I had the steak and it simply melted in my mouth. The abalone pappardelle was also delicious and the service was great. Thank you Corey. Very welcoming, knowledgeable and friendly. Great to see you the next morning as well. Thanks for the tips of where to go too! We went to Cape Tourville Lighthouse on your recommendation and it was spectacular.

We dined two nights in a row and had breakfast on the third morning with The Bay Restaurant in Freycinet. We were not staying at the lodge attached but it was worth driving to this experience.
We were seated promptly by Kate every sitting.
Incredibly friendly, professional and efficient. We thoroughly enjoyed our conversations.
We were also looked after by Corey throughout our dining experiences.
On a similar note, welcoming, professional and with a healthy knowledge of the area, cuisine and wines on offer.
We opted for the Chefs choice menu both evenings as it was incredible.
One of the courses was garnished with Pine mushrooms that the head chef had foraged himself that morning.
The flavour combinations, the presentation, the thought process behind each dish.. provided twofold insights for us.
The first, an amazing showcase of local produce.
Second, an acute understanding of the balance between flavours and texture.
We’d go as far to say the Roast Duck that was served was the best we have ever eaten and I’m not ashamed to say the plate was all but licked clean.
The Lemon dessert was delicate and genius in its construction.
Breakfast again was cooked to perfection.
We will be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at The Bay Restaurant. Great food (Mains were Sous Vide Duck Breast and Wild Clover Lamb Back Strap, Dessert Freycinet Honey Creme).

Absolutely beautiful. Amazing food. The desserts are beyond yum. Works of art that taste as good as it looks. Definite stop on the food destinations.

A great night at this restaurant. Book ahead as it is full on weekends. I probably had the best seafood chowder ever here! We had the king fish and the perch as well but if there was a next time, I would just have the large chowder as a meal. Great choices too for vegan or meat eater. The service was super friendly!
