What a magical piece of the world! Recently stayed here and found Ali and James to be welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable about everything Daintree. It was refreshing to have a digital detox, start each morning with a cool swim in the ancient waters and fall asleep listening to a waterfall instead of urban sirens and sounds. Thanks so much for hosting us Kerr's, we will be back.

Put the brakes on, take a deep breath and chill. A real digital detox. Calm and peaceful to the max. Beautiful rainforest seclusion. Do yourself a big favor and stay for a few nights.

Spent two amazing nights here recently. Such a beautiful setting and the swimming hole about 20 meters away was much appreciated on a hot day. Definitely will return if ever back in the area. Do yourself a favor and stay there.

Amazing place in the middle of the Daintree. Not far from the "main road" that runs through the Daintree. Amazing to be surrounded by nature with your own private river and creek. The two buildings on the site are completely separate from each other and you can enjoy your privacy from the other property. Falling asleep to the sounds of the rainforest and enjoying sunrise to beautiful rainforest views is a very unique experience and one we will always cherish.

The cottage has fly screens and was very well looked after. So although you are surrounded by nature, if you keep the door closed you can avoid any unwanted visitors (such as mosquitos).

Absolutely stunning location. Easily accessible and has everything required for you to have a comfortable, relaxing stay. No Telstra reception, some Optus coverage in parts. Beautiful creek and numerous waterfalls just a step out the back doors. Entire place is fly-screened so keep out the mosquitos. Highly recommended if you’d like to switch off and unwind to the sound of nature.

Just left the cottage at Daintree Cascades after staying for two nights. The place is absolutely AMAZING. Private, peaceful (only the noise of the waterfalls and the wildlife). I didn't get to meet Ali or her partner but as we loved it so much, after going to cooktown and then back to cairns for a few nights, we are lucky enough that the cottage will be available after that so we are going back for another two nights. If you are going to the Daintree, STAY HERE. I cannot think of a more PERFECT place to relax and unwind, I only wish it was a lot closer to Sydney.

This place was absolutely magical! One of the best holidays we have had for sure. A perfectly equipped lovely little cottage setting in the middle of the rainforest with a beautiful creek/completely private swimming hole. What more could one ask for! It just got better when we learned we were completely radiation proof for once! (No network /wifi). Truly blissful!!!
We were lucky to meet with Ally and James who were absolutely lovely and made every effort to make us comfortable when we got there in the middle of a mad rainy rainforesty week.
We are definitely coming back Ally! Hope to catch you guys there again!

A haven in the middle of the Daintree Rainforest - secluded and spectacular
The Round House is indeed round (well, octagonal) and has floor to ceiling windows around most of its circumference, so while you sit inside, you see and hear the rain forest everywhere around you. Birds and butterflies abound and one evening we saw a big lizard on a nearby rock - very cool. Apparently a cassowary visits now and then but we did not see him (or her). You have your own private waterfalls and rock pools just down the steps from the house, which sound beautiful and are lovely to dip in. You can see and hear the falls from inside the house, which is wondrous. As it rained prodigiously one of the days we were there, the waterfall became wild and even more spectacular.

The house was spotlessly clean and pristine in every way, with beautiful wood/stone/glass construction and details. It is even more gorgeous in person than in the photos online.

Practical info:
• It has a full kitchen and bath (with tub), two bedrooms (one in the loft), a spacious dining area (seats 6) and lounge/living room with three sofas and a big flat-screen TV for watching DVDs (of which there is a large supply on hand).
• There is an outdoor BBQ and table/chairs for four.
• No mobile/cell phone service of course and the house is hydro-powered by the water running by!
• There is a smaller cottage on the property as well, but it is a good distance away and is accessed by a separate driveway. It even has its own waterfalls, so we never heard or saw anyone while we were there.
• The house is barely an hour north of Port Douglas and offers a great jumping-off point for activities in the Cape Tribulation area - horse rides on the beach, tours of the Great Barrier Reef, salt-water crocodile spotting on then Daintree River, rainforest walks....
• Ali and James were perfect, gracious hosts - available if we needed them and otherwise invisible.
My husband and I rented the house for three nights, and I cannot imagine a more beautiful, romantic haven. I would even come here alone on a quiet retreat, yet it would also be great for a family. Truly spectacular, and not to be missed.
