On The Turps

Stayed at the Heritage Lodge and booked dinner at ‘On the Turps’. One of the best meals I’ve had in years! Ordered Kangaroo with mash and veggies, and cannelloni. Beautifully presented, perfectly cooked! Photos do not do it justice! Breakfast was also delicious and COVID prepared.

A lovely setting in a lush jungle environment. The service was excellent and the staff were friendly.
If you’re looking for somewhere to eat in a classic FNQ rainforest then this is a gem.
Don’t go there expecting an extensive menu of Michelin Star dishes because this isn’t that. What it is is a small range of simple well prepared dishes, using quality produce, which are better than anything else I’ve tried in the Daintree area.

Generous and tasty portion of barramundi. Sides were fine. Friendly staff. Lots of nice outdoor seating.

Excellent choice in the Daintree Forest. Lots of options also for vegetarians and all meals are well prepared and thought through. Service was also very attentive and super friendly. Definitely take the Garlic bread!

Very nice location in the middle of the rainforest. The food is very good and as vegetarians we found something nice as well.
Its a little bit off the road. So don’t think you are wrong if you drive down the rocky road.

We stayed at the Heritage Lodge and enjoyed brekky, lunch and dinner On The Turps for 2 days in a row.
Breakfast was continental - bread, cereals, fresh fruit, beverages. Lunch and dinner meals were fabulous, can't recall when I last enjoyed such tasteful dishes! We ordered the crispy pork belly, seared kangaroo, duck breast (almost every main) and each was as good as the other. Portions are generous and well presented. We also tried the Rum & Raisin icecream and the Citrus poppyseed cake - delectable! Loved the Happy Hour deals too :)
Great service and welcoming atmosphere in a relaxing semi-outdoor setting with the gentle sounds of the flowing creek and the cool shade of the Daintree forest - you couldn't ask for more!

Had a beautiful meal with my family, lovely surroundings and friendly staff. We all enjoyed our meal, had the kangaroo, fish of the day and mushroom dish. All delicious. Desserts were lovely too.

Had cocktails and dinner while staying at the Heritage Lodge. Ordered the seared kangaroo that came with carrot purée and grilled veggies over Israeli couscous. Excellent flavors, the veggies were perfectly cooked. Lovely ambience out in their covered deck.

In the middle of no where is this fantastic place! Great staff great food, rolled out of there!

Ate here on a tour. Very nice place in the middle of a park. Good food and the icy cold river plunge was fun too!

Good food and service at a reasonable price (only slightly more expensive than a pub meal).

Beautiful meals, incredible swimming hole in the Cooper Creek, and cold beer. Got my vote!!
