MUSEUM NOT CLOSED. I visited it yesterday as owner was returning from a Cape York collecting trip. Collection is immense and well organized. I was thrilled with the live butterflies flitting around the flowering shrubs outside. Even more thrilling was the quick lesson on how to locate spiky leaf sticks on the small trees in front. Don’t skip the stop at the creek platform.

What a fantastic display of bugs a private collection open to the public . The owners are lovely people and very informative. There is also a lovely swimming hole as well.

We enjoyed the visit. We arrived late and the very friendly staff fired up the generator to put the lights back on. We got to look at a couple of live specimens out the front and then checked out the collection. Worth a look if you are interested in insects (many of the specimens were collected outside of Australia).

A must visit if you’re in the area!
Such a huge wonderful collection!
It’s cash only for entry as well.
It’s a family run business with wonderful knowledge of the collection, and great stories of some very interesting bugs!
They also sell beautiful bugs and butterflies to take home, great memorabilia of the local area.
Really beautiful creek on the property too, with great tables perfect for morning tea ☺

Our nearby Airbnb host mentioned it and we stopped by on a whim. Glad we did as it was very enjoyable. Lady running it spent time showing us around. Great stop! Don’t miss it

Wonderful little quirky gem of a museum, sporting a wonderful collection of insects, specimens from all over the world, as well as some living lively local species.
Stephen is a wonderful gent, who regaled us with lovely anecdotes about the rituals and behaviour of certain insects, as well as entertaining anecdotes of his lifelong work to collect and acquire rare specimens.
Was a lovely stop off, on our way through the Daintree forest, would highly recommend.

This place was so unique and incredibly interesting. One of our highlights while spending time in cape trib! The bugs, the stone work and the creek are amazing along with the local hospitality offered with the experience of visiting. Some incredible bugs on display and the artwork of the bug collector (sorry I forget his name) is amazing. I will remember this experience for a long time to come.

Wow! One of my favourite places we visited while in FNQ! Large private collection open to public to view. Make sure to take cash when visiting anywhere over the river though, eftpos seems very hit and miss for these small businesses owned and run by locals. I’ll make sure to return again when back again! Thank you for sharing this with the world!

What an awesome place! A must see place to visit. The insect collection is one of the largest in Australia. I was amazed by the large numbers of jungle perch in the creek. Well worth a visit while in the Daintree rainforest.

Stumbled across this place on my second trip to the Daintree. Just blew my mind - so awesome. Tucked out of the way, make sure you stop if you have any interest in bugs. One of the largest collections of insects in Australia.
