Raku

Everything was fantastic. The food blew me away, so pretty, delicate and delicious. The service was amazing. My friend has a food allergy and they all made sure he knew what he could and couldn't eat and amended the dishes to cater for him. Wait staff were friendly and chatty as well as being super efficient. I could not fault my experience today.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at Raku. We ordered the royal tasting set. The meal was beautifully presented and fresh. The scallop was slightly over cooked, but everything else was exceptional. Fantastic flavours. The service was good, the girls were friendly, however, for the price you’re paying for this dining experience I would expect a higher level of professionalism, perhaps more training is needed. We will happily return.

It’s not just a meal, it’s a whole experience. Not the first time visiting and definitely not the last one. Absolute gem or a place. Everything is amazing, sushi’s feel like they were crafter to perfection. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

The best restaurant if you’re looking some fine place in Canberra (or even the Australia-wide) for trying out fresh ingredients with decent cooking and layouts for special occasions or just old friends catch-ups. RAKU definitely worths more than you paid! Strongly recommended!

My first time dining at Raku and it was exceptional. The atmosphere was great, I sat in a private booth with 5 friends.
4 of us had the Royal Tasting Menu for $160.
Each course was different with outstanding flavours.
The waiters all knew the details of the food or drinks (different waiters for each)

Amazing food and experience. We got the set menu and everything was delicious. Service was very friendly and accommodating. Great atmosphere and decor. Will definitely be back!

Celebrated my anniversary here and they even wrote a “happy anniversary” on our dessert :)

Great selection of alcohol too.

Went for my girlfriends birthday, food and drinks were amazing. Service was also superb, server was about to explain what she thought was going to be enough food as both me and my partner were about to seriously under order. Everything was perfect and came in good time. The desert weren't to my tasting but it was extremely hard to compete with the main courses. I will be back again at the next special occasion. (As someone who doesn't eat fish there is alot of meat and vegetable dishes you can order)

Amazing high standard of Japanese cuisine. Not surprised to learn it is rated amongst the top 20 restaurants in Australia. Could not fault the food, service or atmosphere. Worth the trip to Canberra alone!

We had their Hao San’s tasting menu for dinner, food tasted decent with interesting fusion-ish flavourings. Love their tempura zucchini flower and the scallops. Staff are also quite attentive. Overall an enjoyable experience.

Very special place, professional chefs, friendly services, warm atmosphere, and food are fresh and cooked professionally, We can feel the enthusiasm on the food they serve. It's definitely a place to recommend to friends who like authentic Japanese cuisine.

Food was very nice. The flavors were perfectly balanced and the presentation was impeccable. I especially enjoyed the combination of ingredients used in each dish. The chef's attention to detail was evident in every bite. Overall, it was a delightful culinary experience that left me wanting more.

Stopped here for a quick cocktail after dinner with our kids. We sat outside so we wouldn’t disturb the other diners because our kids are still very young. The staff were very accommodating and spilt an adult ‘Mocktail’ into two glasses for our young kids to share so they didn’t feel like they were missing out. It was a really nice time. I can’t wait to go back and have dinner there alone with just my wife. The atmosphere was really nice.

The food at Raku is always fresh and full of amazing flavour. We did the Hao San’s tasting menu ($100PP) which was delicious! We were adequately full at the end of the meal but chose to order 1 more serving of the Otoro Toryufu because that was our favourite dish from the tasting menu. Everything we ate was phenomenal and we couldn’t fault the service we received. We have been to Raku before this experience and we will be back again in the future.

I went to RAKU as a special dinner for my 30th and anniversary with my partner. I was absolutely blown away by the food, it was above and beyond any expectations I had. It was just delicious! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, I have a very serious allergy (anaphylaxis to the chilli, capsicum and paprika family) they were very accommodating and helpful to ensure that I was safe and had the best night. The restaurant itself is beautiful and I’ve been back again since my first time because it’s probably my favourite restaurant in Canberra! I highly recommend anyone looking to treat themselves to amazing Japanese food to go to RAKU

Spent the weekend in CBR from SYD and dining here was the highlight. We had the $160 Royal Tasting Menu and all of the items were spectacular, although there was slightly a bit too much focus on miso in the dishes (personal opinion), everything was great. Lovely atmosphere and great value compared to what you’d expect to pay in Sydney for the amount of wagyu items.

If you’re looking for a way to make your trip here more worthwhile, this is a great option.

Everything was on point.

We didn’t go the degustation option instead making up our own. Only because we have had the tasting menu a few times now. The waiter helped us choose the perfect amount of food. The highlight… a toss up between the duck, scampi or the foie gras scallops.

Worth every $$$ and then some.

A few different cocktails and glasses of wine and we left happy campers.
