Moonta Mines Railway

A must do experience. The volunteers that run the train are a really great bunch of characters. A laugh a minute. Book your tickets online if you can as you will be guaranteed to get a seat at your chosen time. Plenty of parking and you really get looked after . Train will not run on a really hot day tho . Take plenty of water with you and be prepared to enjoy the hour of sight seeing and history. A couple of stops along the way let you get of and stretch your legs ..... but there are no amenities... so don't drink too much water . A fantastic trip .

Was a great experience for everyone! My boisterous toddler actually sat still and was so enthralled with the train and all the older ones learned a few new things. Definitely going again!

Very informative and interesting about the history of copper mining in Moonta. A unique way to do the tour by train, loved every minute of it.

Great place to learn about how Moonta began, plus a fun experience to enjoy with you kids. We took our 10-year-old and 1yr old, and both of them enjoyed the ride. There was also a dog on board with its owners, wich we thought was cool

This place is amazing. Old sweet shop across the road. Don't miss out on a train ride with the charismatic, handsome and knowledgeable train engineer Geoff( I think).

Be sure to also check out the old school which is now a museum.

What a great experience, Jeff and Steve at the Moonta Mines railway are a fantastic pair of blokes. Vast knowledge of the mines, what they were used for and who worked there. The train ride is educational and very pleasing to the eye, seeing a glimpse into the past of what it would've been like to work and live there back then. Child AND dog friendly everyone can enjoy the ride.

Mini train ride and talking tour are a must. Lots of history and loads to look at all over town and surrounds.

Definitely worth the cost. Interesting commentary about the Copper Mine history. Very friendly and welcoming.

Great experience would recommend for both young and old. Very knowledgeable driver with lots of information shared. Recommend pre booking your tickets as it does get busy.

The blacksmith shed was really interesting with a blacksmith doing live demonstrations
