Wait what? How come no one told me this is an authentic Malaysian restaurant… I thought this was a boring cafe but the menu said something different.
The laksa and nasi lemak is one of the best in Brisbane. If you are in the area, be sure to check it out.

[revisit July 2022]
Came to satisfy laksa cravings, and found a new way to complement the dish!

Our order:
* Laksa, $15.90
* Char kway teow, $14.90
* Ondeh-ondeh muffin, $4.50
* Mixed berry smoothie, $7.50
Total $42.80

I started on the muffin part-way through my laksa, and unintentionally levelled up my gastronomic pleasure by alternating mouthfuls of the spicy, tangy noodle soup with the sweetness from the muffin. Good times 🤤

This combo (laksa + ondeh-ondeh muffin) might have to become a standing order for future visits!

It's not the most obvious place for it, but Bay Breeze Café Cleveland actually has some pretty decent Malaysian food. It's a fairly typical Western café in most respects, given a Malaysian boost with the owners/chefs bringing some flavours from home to the menu. I've had the venue bookmarked since hearing about it through a local Malaysian FB group, and went for a drive on a day off to check it out.

We ordered:
* assam (tamarind) barramundi with rice $14.90
* curry chicken with rice $12.90
* curry puff $3.50
* medium latte $4

There's a regular Malaysian food menu, plus rotating weekly specials. Wifey's first choice of chicken rendang was not available, so went with the second choice of chicken curry. It was just manageable for her low spice tolerance, and the portion got the better of her.

I chose the weekly special with assam fish, and thoroughly enjoyed every mouthful. It's a taste profile you won't easily find here, even amongst Malaysian restaurants, so best to get it as and when available.

The curry puff was a spur of the moment decision cos I saw some on display at the counter while ordering. It was pretty big, but didn't rise much above average for us.

We got chatting to Jenny (one of the owners), and found out that we have a common friend (small world!). Jenny gave us some complimentary acar (vegetable pickle) to accompany our mains, and then treated us to a sample of their Japanese cotton cake for dessert. The cotton cake was quite nice, and is one of a few cakes options available if you're looking for something on the sweeter side.

I don't come out this way very much, but next time I feel like going for a drive to the bayside area, I know where I'll be going for lunch!

Amazing authentic Malaysian cuisine with super friendly staff. Couldn’t ask more for the delicious laksa! I can taste that it is using real ingredients instead of premix.

It is a bit of drive from Brisbane city but it is worth the travel. Highly recommended the laksa and the tetarik drink.

I also ordered the pandas cake and other snacks. They are all very fresh and delicious. There are not much restaurants around the area, so you won’t miss it. There are lots of parking spaces in front of the café. Don’t bother ask for the menu, try their daily special!

Legit Malaysian food at the bayside and very comparable with couple other places in the city.
Portion size is on the small side.

All I can say is Yum Yum Yum. Their authentic Malaysian cooking is definitely worth the drive out. This hidden gem though quiet and unassuming packs a melodious flavour punch. Be sure to call to make a booking and preorder for a weekend and ask what they're cooking for their specials. The Nasi Lemak is made from scratch.

We would never expect a fantastic Malaysian eatery at this location. However, upon the recommendation of many Malaysians. we drove for 45minutes to this place and it did not disappoint.

The laksa (pictured) was homemade from scratch too, hence it tasted authentic. The sauce is thick (not watery), and packed with various spices.

The other dish we ordered which we had no picture of. was the 'ayam masak merah' (direct translation: red chicken?). My partner stated that it was very close to what he usually get from Malaysia! This chicken dish is actually quite spicy.

Cold and busy day, I was craving a Laksa. Googled Laska near me and Bay Breeze Cafe popped up. It had great reviews for their Laksa so we headed straight there.

Unfortunately, we didn't realise they only do Laksa on certain days. Some of the Malaysian dishes are on rotation so only available, when available. Since we were there, I ordered the Nasi Lemak and hubby Singapore noodles, takeaway.

My Nasi Lemak was THE BEST I have ever eaten. The chicken curry was so incredible, my belly is full of warm and beautiful food. Even the rice was great!

I can't wait to go back to try the Laksa (usually available Fridays and Saturdays).

Delicious Mayalsian food. Stumbled across this place by accident - the authentic smell of spices drew us in and our meal didn't disappoint. Between the 6 of us we tried most of the specials available including laksa, CKT and chicken curry nasi lemak. All were amazing and we can't wait to come back! Best laksa we've tried in Brisbane.

Excellent local Malaysian cuisine in the heart of Redlands. Not to many authentic Malaysian food out this way, so I am delighted to finally have somewhere local to dine when we have that craving. The owners and staff are delightful and friendly, and are well known and respected within the Malaysian community. They help their local community in various ways. It's good to see local businesses helping their community by giving back to those in need. Definitely recommend!

I was surprised that Bay Breeze Cafe would be open on New Years Day but seeing it open, my friend & I chose to stop & order our morning tea. The Ladies serving, were very nice & polite & served us our lovely tasty order. My friend was impressed, as I was, & they're prices are very reasonable too. It's a casual place to visit & chill out with your order.
