Kalavara Indian Cuisine

We’ve known about these guys for about 6 months now and first tried it out with their set menu on the weekends. It was a South Indian feast - truly delicious and homemade flavours! Following that we got them to cater for our baby shower/Diwali function at home and they delivered all items on time. All our friends raved about the food and still do!

We went back again today and tried the Paal Porotta and Potti Sooru set. The paal porotta was something I had never seen or heard before and 100% recommend trying! If you need something to compare to, but maybe even a touch better (if I dare) … it’s like a Keralan lasagne 😁 a layer of gravy and meat of choice (I chose chicken), between two parottas, topped with some coconut milk and steamed/served in a bowl of banana leaves 🤤🤤🤤Hubby had the set meal and was truly satiated too - the mooru kolumbu was the standout.

Best of all, the front of house staff (I think her name was Danya) was such a delight. She was so welcoming and had the best energy about the food and service.

Ordered the veg sadhya.. filled the heart of a true South Indian. The variety and quality is totally worth the money.. additionally very very friendly staff.. felt like I was guest in Kerala.. was well hosted especially by Dhanya… ❤❤

My wife and I enjoyed a Keralan dinner at Kalavara Indian Cuisine on 4th January 2024. The dishes to go with our plain basmati rice were Kerala chicken roast and Fish molee. Both these dishes complemented each other and their taste was exquisite and authentic and a real treat to our seasoned palates. Our drinks were mango lassi and lime tea (Sulaimani). The wait staff were very polite and inviting and made our dining experience a delight. Thank you Dhanya, Matthews and Alna. No doubt, we will be returning to Kalavara to savour the other mouth-watering dishes on their menu.

We had a dine-in experience at Kalavara. The food was excellent,
that is the reason I have given them five stars.
The place is nice and clean with a simple setout.
Chicken Pepper was excellent, and Kerala paratha was authentic.
As good as it gets.
We tried other South Indian dishes, and they were spot on.
We did not try any North Indian Food, so we can't comment on it.
They serve alcohol at the venue, and beers are priced between $6 to $8. Not too bad.
We tried fish fry and it was lovely.
A fried Indian Bangda cost us $6.
I would revisit the place. The wait staff was friendly.
The place is located in Browns plains and is open for lunch as well.

Have been getting take out from here for years. But decided to eat in tonight. Such a wonderful local restaurant. Delicious food, good portions and value for money. The staff are exceptional and made us welcome throughout the entire meal. Highly recommend you visit for a meal. We will definitely be back.

Eating in, is one experience on its own. But getting delivered some times can be a whole different experience on the same meal in most cases and is not usually as good. At first glance it didn't look so great. But the paneer tikka masala did not disappoint at all, great sweet flavour and I was constantly getting a spoon full of paneer at every helping. The cheese and garlic in most case is mostly garlic and hardly any cheese, but man was this bread not only packed with both cheese and garlic it was well cooked and not the typical doughy uncooked taste. The chicken karma though was lacking on the chicken side, however the chicken that was present was tender as. Well done guys.

The best South Indian authentic restaurant in BNE. The vibe, the service, the taste, everything is just amazing. And Moreover, Dhanya did her best today, even though it was super busy she managed to give her best to every table. Very friendly.
Will definitely come back and highly recommend...

Me and my friends had booked for a table today evening. We had a really good time👌 the beef roast is amazing with kerala porotta. And moreover very friendly staff, Dhanya. She’s a real gem. She recommended us with coconut rice and we tried it, which actually made my day..

We had a lovely curry last night , service was excellent, the food was lovely, wish we had one in Jimboomba that good ,we will be back to try some thing different may be a biryani , I had lamb korma my hubby had a Chicken Korma ,and starters Onion pakorra, samosa and 2 beers 🍻

We had a gr8 experience. Staff were super friendly and very effecient. Food was awesome. Dhanya was amazing. Served us with a beautiful smile. Great service. Highly recommended. They even surprised my partner with a lovely Kulfi icecream for his birthday. Gr8 job guys. Thank u for a lovely dinner.

I had a dinner on Sunday with my friend it was my first time to be there and the food was really good not to spicy at all I love the on tray Paneer Tikka! Friendly and very active staff!

The food is one of the best Indian ( especially South Indian food) I've had in Brisbane. Completely worth the trip.

Plus, one of the few restaurants to serve appam :)

The best kerala cuisine in Brisbane I should say.. dosa and kerala paratta was really good. Food was on time. Very good customer service, especially a new girl named Dhanya. She’s very friendly.

got lot of variety with splendid taste . i feel oothappam was the best I had we ordered prawns and fish mole was my other favourites. the food is awesome and delicious

There was a very pleasant staff. Tanya provided excellent service, and she was really friendly. Dosa tasted so delicious, and comforting cuisine was served.

Absolutely perfect! Ordered through uber eats, long wait was expected, but came earlier then planned, food arrived hot, and well packaged, so no leaking. Everything was spot on, no faults at all, good size portions as well, price is very affordable. Asked for a medium and it was great! Would love to see a Lassi added to the menu or some galub jamun, something sweet to end the meal, will definitely be back again, maybe next time we can dine in, thank you :)

We visited Kalavara today. Tasty and fresh food. The Toddy was superb👍. More than that the customer service by Dhanya Chechy made us order more and more foood😊. Thank you for a great Lunch
