I have been under Dr Allinson for many years now and he has performed a number of surgeries and procedures on me at Greenslopes Hospital. He is always so busy and takes on cases others wouldn’t touch. I’m very happy with him.

Very rushed consultation leading to surgery that I don't think I needed.

On my first consultation. I was asked "have I tried everything" - I said yes as I thought I had (after seeing another surgeon after Dr Allison I realised that this is a strange question to ask a patient as they only know what they know...They don't know what "everything" there is on the market. I tried the cream that he sent me home with . A week later it didn't improve anything. I called up the secretary to see what was next and I was put on the list for surgery without even speaking to the doctor. I found that odd - As "doctor knows best" I proceeded with the surgery - However, the next time that I saw Dr Allison was literally a few minutes before I was being wheeled into surgery and had to sign a waiver actually on the flat of my back as I was going in!! I realise now that is not normal. Surgery was briefly discussed at my first and only consultation but nothing of any side affects. I didn't have time to read anything on that waiver that I had signed and felt pressured into it (being all gowned up with a needle in my arm and wheeling my way into theatre).
I saw Dr Allison after the surgery as it wasn't getting better. I told him how I felt it was handled badly and he apologised. This is why I am giving 2 stars instead of 1. Since that encounter I went to another surgeon, in South Brisbane, that sorted everything out. This surgery was a while back. However, It still upsets me how much I seemed to have been "thrown" into surgery that, after speaking to a friend that is having a similar issue with their surgeon (unrelated), I feel it best to write my experience in order for others to see a broader picture. This is my experience and perception only of Dr Allison and, of course, is subjective.

I cannot disagree more with the other reviews here on google, I strongly recommend looking at other reviews to form your own opinion before choosing you surgeon!!!!

Stephen's diagnosis was completely wrong (which took less than 5 mins) even going against what the test results clearly stated. This in turn delayed the process even longer and caused undue stress making me feel like I was making the whole thing up....

After going to another specialist for a second option and another scan to confirm the original diagnosis, it was found the problem to be worse than originally expected.

I am so relieved I did not listen to Stephen and found a doctor that I could trust andcared about my problem and rehabilitation.

After all it is your body and you have the right to choose and feel comfortable with the surgeon before he operates on you.
