Born by Tapavino

We have been here 4 times and the food is absolutely spectacular, and we cannot fault the service on the first two visits. On our third visit with our friends, once again the food was top class. We ordered coffee after lunch, and unfortunately, all four coffee's were weak. But the first two visits our coffee's were full and flavoursome. We asked our waiter if we could have them made stronger. We waited, and waited, but the coffees never came back. The waiter then said, " this is a restaurant not a cafe, so if you want a good coffee try a cafe not a restaurant." This happened approximately 3 weeks ago and I was not going to be so trivial as to write about this until today's experience. We had a professional waiter today, food once again top quality, but when it came to pay for our meal the waiter at the cash register happened to be the same waiter we had last time, who told us to go to a cafe for our coffee's. So when paying today, for no reason he was so rude to us, we are absolutely dumbfounded by his behaviour!!!!!!This has left a real bad taste, as we did nothing wrong. We will be back, but we wish never to be served by this waiter again. It turned a wonderful lunch into a horrible experience.

Delicious food served promptly during a busy lunch hour rush. Tapas was super tasty. Highly recommend the Octopus or Chorizo.

Amazing service tonight from Gonzalo. Exceptional attention and first class service that you don’t often see in Australian venues. Attention to detail is world class. Thank you for such a lovely evening. Food was so good and all came out very efficiently

I had lunch here last week and was very impressed by the food and the service.
We shared four dishes which was just about right for a light lunch. Everything was perfectly cooked and well presented.
I’m keen to go back and try more of the dishes next time I am in the area:

Looking up in google we discovered this little gem along the waterfront very prompt service seated quickly and when we asked for a better position they accommodated us which was appreciated
Ordered a couple of cocktails and they assisted us with the menu and WOW the food did not disappoint absolutely delicious would visit again highly recommended
Staff were very attentive filling your glass with water and checking on your dishes.
Really loved this place well worth the five stars …

Really nice evening here, great location in Barangaroo. Service was attentive and pleasant overall. The portions are generous, for both food and drinks! Gin and wine selection is extensive. And gins are poured at 70ml.

The ambiance was warm and lively, although it feels more to the dinner side than the intimate tapas bar like vibe.

The food was excellent, the Bomba rice was the only one we weren’t big fans of. It had too much of a stock/savoury flavour, we had more of the paella in mind and this definitely wasn’t that. Our server said it was more like a risotto, but it really isn’t either. However, we’d come back here to try all the other things on the menu and also look forward to trying out their other restaurants too.

Excellent food, step above the ordinary. A bit slow to get started but then the orders came very fast. Staff were professional and friendly. Great drinks at happy hour too. We had a nicely heated outdoor seat.

Delicious Spanish cuisine. The serves are generous for sharing or someone with a good appetite. The drinks are good.

The staff are very attentive and swift in action. If you are unsure about what to order, definitely ask.

The waterfront entrance wasn't very obvious in the dark. The main entrance as pointed out by Google Maps is easy to find.

We visited Born as a group of 9 for my dads birthday.

We have been to Born and the other Tapavino restaurants several times, and they never disappoint.

Service is always impeccable and we are so appreciative that we were able to order off the a la carte menu instead of having the set menu required for a table of 8+. Having said this we had spoke to Born earlier to request this and they were very accommodating.

Not typically a fan of Spanish food but this food was very good. Really enjoyed the entrees and found the portion sizes very generous for tapas. We sat outside and the atmosphere was great. It’s a little on the pricy side (approx . $130 for 2 people for mains and desserts) but that is to be expected given the location!

Amazing experience at Born, thanks to Thomas for making our night so special and making us feel so welcome! The Murray cod was incredible, as was the Jamon with Burrata and pickles! Thomas’ recommendation on the wine was a hit, he picked an amazing red from the Priorat region! Loved every drop!

Great group dining experience. Food was delicious cocktails are a definite plus. Bad lighting that doesn't justify the yummy Food! The cabbage salad is a must try btw! And the praw! And the braised beef! Really everything is good. 😂

Yes I would like to see a new menu and I'm confident I wouldn't be disappointed

Staff were attentive and friendly, they made sure they were around for any questions we had and water was topped up almost as soon as our glasses were empty. The food looked smelt and tasted absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend the jamon croquettes!

Had my birthday/valentine dinner here and had the valentine set menu. The dishes were curated well and food was fresh and cooked well! Nice vibe too.

Tapavino is always a safe choice for good tapas and wine. Born is no exception, great location along the waterfront

Service was outstanding - where a number of surrounding restaurants weren't serving food

My boyfriend and I visited when it was quite humid so the red sangria was very refreshing. Might be the best sangria I had at a restaurant ever - not watered down and had pieces of apple and orange. We started with sourdough baguette with luscious olive oil (tasted very high quality).
The bread had a nice crust with a fluffy inside. Also the jamon was not too salty and it balanced well with the house made pickles and the crusted burrata provided great texture.
The octopus dish was very moreish because not only were the potatoes creamy but the octopus was cooked perfectly so that they remained tender.
The pièce de résistance is the beef cheeks. It fell apart and was scrumptious with the sauce. The polenta and the crispy chickpeas were a perfect match to it.
The side of garlic mushrooms were also delicious - well seasoned.
Along with the amazing food, waterview, atmosphere, and service, it's definitely an incredible place for date night or socials.

Loved our New Year’s Eve dinner at Born! We had a reservation, were seated immediately outside where we could see all the NYE craziness in Barangaroo and Lea came to take our drink and dinner order. Lea was very attentive and made good suggestions to help us navigate the menu. We decided on a set menu, and the tapas started arriving! The hummus was excellent, and we really enjoyed the jambon with ricotta, the fabulous salmon (raw, sushi grade) and delicious spicy chicken skewers. We thought we were finished, and then she cleared the plates for the main!!

All in all, a fabulous experience in Sydney! And Lea rocks!!

Eating here transported me to a Spanish plaza and made me happier than I’ve been in months. We got 4 delicious dishes and 4 drinks each and the bill was an extremely reasonable $158. Food was so tasty and filling, service warm and quick. I look forward to coming back habitually to try the full menu.
