Bella Brutta

Had a quick lunch Bella Brutta, it’s hard to make a reservation on the weekend it’s normally pretty packed. It’s easy for us a make a decision, they only doing pizza and they know how to make good pizza. We ordered the famous clam and potato’s pizza, both served quickly and they were devious and probably one of the best in Sydney. The clam pizza is so flavorful, a dash of chilli and garlic blend well with clam meat. They use blue cheese in potato pizza, it’s quite nice. Will come back and try the others soon.

Came here first time just for the pizza. Very good wood fire pizza and excellent service. Obviously, it can get very busy at night. I am glad we went early for dinner on weekday.

Had been meaning to try this place for a while and have had no luck with walk ins multiple times so was really happy I managed to book a last minute dinner on a Wednesday night the day before. Between three we ordered 4 pieces of sourdough, peppers, octopus, spaghetti, mortadella pizza and sausage pizza. Nice vibes and staff were very friendly. Highly recommend the octopus which was packed full of flavour. The spaghetti was also quite delicious and I definitely preferred the sausage pizza (however my friend preferred the mortadella).

Pizza crust was chewy as heck, leopard spots on point. Got the margherita and potato pizza. Thought I would like the simple one better but the potato pizza was complex and savory. Potato rosemary confit garlic with cracks of pepper on top a plush pizza base was like the star.

Vibey pizza bar in the heart of Newtown. Their clam pizza is by far the best seafood pizza served in Sydney - and their sausage pizza tasted even better. The starters were good but if I was to go again i would get a third pizza instead, but because of how insanely good the pizzas are. The service staff are very friendly.
Beware, there is a hidden credit card surcharge which doesn’t appear on the bill and if you book online they ask for card details

We secured a last-minute reservation on a late Monday evening, and we were seated promptly. We ordered a Cavolo Nero pizza, which arrived exceptionally quickly, perhaps a bit too quickly! It was delicious and flavorful. Accompanied by a sparkling wine, the pizza paired well with its ingredients. The service was wonderful, and I emphasize, very fast. I appreciate that the staff remained friendly, even though we were among the last customers to dine before closing. The vibe and atmosphere were on par, with a great selection of music. Would definitely come back for more!

I was surprised how chewy the dough is. Also the marinated octopus was delicious.
Definitely would return to try the Margherita pizza.

Came here randomly last night, without a booking, they were packed however they happily seated us after 5-10 min waiting.
The customer service was super friendly and welcoming.. cocktails were amazing and reasonably priced.
the pizzas were SO GOOD, tasty and perfectly cooked! The tiramisu was just wow - the best I’ve had. Would definitely come back to try other pizzas

Amazing pizza joint in Newtown. You must book in advance to get a seat. Their clam pizza is our favourite and a must order! We tried the Cavolo Nero pizza which was nice- great balance of spice, salt and an amazing charred crispy green.

The service was also quite good. Only down side is that besides the small range of pizzas on offer the menu offers very little. Hoping to go back when they offer one of their specials

Had a fantastic time at Bella Brutta. It has been on my list of place to try for years and I’m so glad it lived up to the hype.

Warm sourdough bread was delicious and they did not skimp on the olives.

Clam pizza was so fresh and tasty and the dough was so squishy and perfect. The sausage pizza was also delicious.

You HAVE to try the sorbet for dessert. A scoop of the most heavenly fior di latte ice cream topped with watermelon granita. So fresh and the perfect way to finish dinner.

Cocktails were also amazing. Staff were so friendly and service was 10/10. Definitely recommend!

I went to Newtown for a little food adventure. I came for the clam pizza, and it did not disappoint! Very flavoursome and the crust was crunchy. Their chilli oil on the side did not overwhelm the taste and it wasn't overly spicy. It was a nice addition. Will come back for sure!

Bella Brutta has been on my pizza hit list for a while due to all the hype. Well, well, well, I can’t believe I waited for so long!! This place is incredible. Let’s start with the clam pizza because it’s their signature pizza and it stands up to every rave review. It’s simply delish - zesty, some heat from the chilli and not at all fishy, it’s all in the sauce. The wood fire oven gives the pizza a nice smoky flavour and the dough is soft and bitey at the same time, easy 10/10. We also had the garlic king prawns with chilli, the fennel and white bean salad and the arancini. All the starters were great but for sure the pizza is the showstopper. Great cocktails, the Bella Margherita was punchy and for the non alcoholic drinks, the strawberry and thyme soda is a winner.
Service is attentive and friendly. It’s a busy restaurant and the food and drinks come out quick. Bookings are a must as it gets packed. Great for friends and girly nights out 🍸 🍕

Best pizza in Newtown, fantastic service, and great vibe. The sausage pizza and mesclun side salad with palm sugar vinaigrette were both incredible.

I haven't been back for a specific reason - it gets excessively loud indoors, but last visit I was grabbing a table out the back which is kinda awkward at night with maybe a possum or something in the area scurrying around causing leafage to drop onto the table/seating but you can actually hear your fellow diners, and that fixes the atmosphere problem quite considerably. The other issue is always the lines but it seems these days in a weeknight that walkins are very plausible for solo or duos (and you can book online on sevenrooms which helps you lock it in for dinner in advance if can plan a wee bit ahead). The pizza flavours are solid, clam pizza are renowned and the sausage is super reliable. The pizza base is structurally easy to pick up, no issues with overloaded toppings leading to sogginess issues. Ask for specials, the nduja confit garlic I had was awesome. The pizza crust is a bit contentious for me since I think they go a little over the line from charred to a bit too singed and while I can do that for a few slices I think the acrid singe on the crust is a tad too much to eat a whole pizza worth of crust, so at some point I stop eating crust (which you won't find me doing at places like Al Taglio where I'd gobble every bit of crust), but it's definitely not as bad at certain other pizza joints which seem to think either people like ash or that people don't care about crust, so I let that slide here. Service is reasonable. Definitely enough of a Sydney institution that any pizza lover must go at least once yo judge for themselves.

Probably two of the best pizza’s I’ve had in a long time. If you like Italian style pizzas I highly recommend giving this place a go. If you like margaritas then I would suggest getting the Bella Margarita. Extremely tasty and balanced.

Their Surf Clam pizza takes the prize, however they’ve recently stopped serving it to take away customers… mind blowing giving they’ve done an amazing job of expanding their take away service by adding a whole standalone store around the corner. 🤯

Keep up the great work team..!! But Pleeeeeeaase re-introduce the Surf Clam to customers picking up… 🙏🏾😁

Great place where family outings and date nights can both enjoy their time. Quick service. Good beer. Delicious pizza - go for potato if you’re thinking about it 👌🏻

YUM!!! I did not have a reservation when I went but since I was dining alone, I was seated at the bar promptly. I ordered the spicy sausage pizza which was delicious and a citrusy cocktail (forgot the name) which paired well with the pizza! The service was friendly and the atmosphere was lovely. I'll make a point to visit again when in Sydney! Very highly recommended!

Bella Brutta in Sydney has earned its place on my list of the best pizzerias! Truth be told, dining there was an incredible experience, and the food was nothing short of delightful. I highly recommend trying their signature clam pizza, which is simply delicious. was really satisfying, light, burst of flavour of garlics, lemon zest and parsley the crust is pillowy, but not soggy, unlink other places. Wood-fire gave it a nice smokiness.

What sets Bella Brutta apart is their mastery of the Napoli style pizza. The dough is skillfully stretched to perfection, resulting in a thin and light crust that resembles a cracker topped with tomato sauce and cheese. Personally, I adore this style, but I'm also a huge fan of other pizza varieties
