Takayama Restaurant Bar

An amazing dining experience! Warmly welcomed by owner Stefan and well attended to by staff. Delicious food and was treated to a delicious complimentary matcha cheese cake at my birthday dinner! Best restaurant at Jindabyne!!!

Now I really enjoyed Takayama. Sitting at the bar watching the team play their game so well was delightful. We ordered off the small plate menu and loved every dish. Drinking beer and snacking on JFC (Jindabyne Fried Chicken) was a great way to spend the evening.

Had a really lovely time here. Warm welcome on arrival. Delicious cocktails and food, and attentive service. If there was anything that would make it perfect: slightly less bright lighting would make the atmosphere more intimate. A great place; can recommend.

Everything about Takayama made for a fantastic experience. Walking past and seeing that they were very busy we thought we would try our luck and see if they could squeeze us in, and fortunately there was room to be seated at the bar.
The service all night was second to none. The staff were all friendly and helpful, in particular the manager who despite being run off his feet was making time to chat with patrons making all feel welcomed.
The food was on point and we thoroughly enjoyed every bite. It’s hard to choose a standout dish as everything was so good, but I would definitely recommend the JFC with wasabi mayo.

We were a group of 4 that booked in for dinner. The food and service was excellent. The staff explained the menu and food choices well. Between the 4 us we sampled a large part of the menu. It was all great food. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for Japanese food.

The service was friendly and attentive. The setting was a consistent Japanese theme with matching wooden tables chairs and artwork. The food was fresh, flavoursome, and appealing. It was a great night and if I'm in the area I'll definitely call in. Just make sure you book in early. You have to book ahead because of limited space. Check out their Facebook page for details.

Really enjoyed our dinner here! Would highly recommend anyone thinking of going.
Cocktails yummy and so were all the dishes.
My only comment would be, hooks under the bench for hand bags at the bar would be good.
I loved how the stools were big and sturdy, if you ever replace them ones with backs would be good 👍🏼

Takayama is busy, but efficient. The kitchen pumps out amazing, and tasty authentic Japanese food.
We ate our way through the entree list, and then ordered other items from the main menu - everything was great.

Even better are the friendly, lively and lovely staff - thanks to everyone for making a great night!

The service was amazing and the food was absolutely amazing I’ve been waiting a really long time to try the miso and you delivered the goods it was exactly how I remembered it from my time in Japan!!! Delicious authentic Japanese in the centre of Jindabyne. Make sure you book early or consider a walk in for small numbers as they have seats at the bar.

We had pork gyoza (juicy and tasty), miso eggplant, chicken yakatori, Takaki beef (melt in the mout!h), cabbage salad (wafu dressing) completed with a matcha cheese cake.

All dishes were amazing, staff were knowledgeable and friendly.

From the moment we were greeted to the ongoing friendly service this place was amazing.
I love the relaxed atmosphere that came across from the staff who clearly live working here.
No strict uniform, however the service standards were high. A 2 hr seating was plenty enough. We sat at the bar, and was able to watch the food prep and drinks being prepared.
Many staff had a chat with us. And drink recommendations were on point.
I tried some new whisky’s , some i enjoyed and some I didn’t. Simply a personal thing.

Make a booking, I will be back.

I was super surprised to find such good Japanese cuisine here in Jindabyne but here they are! Amazing food and service.

The owner was really nice and attentive to my partners sesame allergies and ensured she had a pleasant dining experience. Even though it was a lot of effort on their end to work around the allergy given how sesame tends to be in a lot of Japanese dishes, they really went above and beyond here.

The salmon sashimi was fresh and soft and the pork raman was hearty and warmed the soul. It was exactly what I needed after a big day in the cold. Highly recommended.

As always… a sensational dinner at one of our fave restaurants in all of Australia… A must visit when in the snowies. Cheers team Takayama, we luv ya x

Our recent dining experience at Takayama was nothing short of extraordinary. Takayama offers an enchanting journey for food enthusiasts, combining exceptional authentic dishes, a great ambiance, and impeccable service. This gem deserves a spot on your must-visit list, and we are already planning our return to explore more of their culinary dishes.

Takayama Jindabyne is one of my favourite restaurants… I cannot fault it… the food is first class and innovative, the service is efficient and the atmosphere welcoming … whenever I’m in the Snowies, it’s one place I never fail to visit!

Best food in Jindabyne by far!! The staff are fantastic, food is absolutely amazing and the cocktails are delicious. High recommend ordering the Tataki Beef - I was worried about the Rare beef but it was absolutely amazing!!! Just be sure to book as this place is always booked out and for a good reason!

Last night I had dinner at Takayama and it really didn’t disappoint 😊 not only was the food (and cocktails) delicious but our server Grace really made our night! She was personable, helpful and super fun. Thank you Grace for a nice evening, props to you! 👏

Staff in this place were awesome! Attentive and efficient from start to finish even when busy. The dumplings were amazing and our main noodle dishes were divine. Will definitely be back when in town- make sure you book ahead, not to be missed!
