Main Ridge Harvest by The Epicurean Group

This is always our go to bakery every time we head down to Redhill. Given the easy, delicious pie options, tasty desserts, and cozy ambiance, there is plenty of space for picnics or tables to dine at. When it was lavender season, it was beautiful there. The only downside is that their pies often run out quickly.

Stopped with the kids for a pie. I had heard how good the pies were so had planned a visit for some time.

We weren't disappointed. The pies were fresh out of the oven, crusty tops and delicious chunks of proper beef...yum.

We also tried the oversized raspberry meringue, which was out of this world.

The changing leaves made for an even more beautiful than normal setting and parking in the lower carpark, our noses were full of lavender scents .

All round lovely experience.

Absolutely beautiful surroundings! The food was delicious - there were a range of fresh gourmet salads, pastries, pies and drinks. There were lots of outdoor tables for picnics. The staff were friendly and eager to please. The croissants were incredible!!

This place had some of the best pastry that I have ever had. We got the croissant and chocolate cookie and they were both to die for. The scenery and location of this cafe make it an amazing and beautiful experience to eat here. A must see if you are a foody and want to see the wonders of the peninsula.

Great service, food was amazing. Warm and Smokey wood fired atmosphere. Pancakes were unreal and the avocado egg toast was so flavourful! Oh and GREAT coffee!

Loved the toasties and pastries here at Johnny Ripe. Would definitely come back for the pulled pork toastie. Beautiful outdoor seating with plenty of room for kids to run around.

We also ordered the beef and apple pie to take back.

4.6. If this isn’t the best cafe on the peninsula, it’d be mighty close. It’s not perfect but there is certainly plenty to admire here.

First off, it’s in a lovely serene location on Main Ridge. On a sunny day like yesterday - low 20s, sunny, barely a breeze - it was near paradise. You could barely find a nicer place inside, outside on the deck or outside on the lawn. It was beautiful here.

We ended up sitting outside and up top on the deck. It was lovely. We even found ourselves chatting with people from other tables. A nice spot and a nice day can do that to you.

The food here is utterly beautiful, not something you’d say about a cafe very often. Despite choosing the place due to previous reviews we weren’t prepared for how good it was. Our meals were exceptional. The thing that stood out was the sheer quality of the produce used. That and skillful cooking. I’m on a build your own kick at the moment and did that here too. Two eggs, bacon, avocado and tomato. Low carb essentially. This was superior stuff. Each of these components was of the highest quality and beautifully fresh. I’ve built my own brekkie at numerous places in Melbourne recently. While I’ve had several beauties the one at Johnny Ripe is easily the pick of them. It was superb. My partner built her own too. Her reaction was exactly the same as mine. She loved her eggs and homemade hash browns. The spinach sauce she’d been advised to have sent her into raptures as well. I tried it too and was astonished at the flavour and quality. It was outstanding.

Our concluding coffees were excellent too. Again to our surprise, they were as good as we’ve had anywhere. Deep, rich, delectable coffee - great beans, made wonderfully and nicely presented. This is coffee as good as I’ve had anywhere anytime.

The other interesting thing is the range of foods for sale here. The breads and cakes looked delicious. There were other things coming out to other tables that looked incredible as well. The sausage rolls were high on that list.

This is a mighty impressive place. It’s a must visit if you’re on the peninsula.

A must stop for all pie lovers!!

Johnny Ripe makes amazing apple pie 🍎the crust is crusty, crunchy, sweet and much like your favourite shortbread it compliments the fresh cut apple sauce filling. Although they do not do this at the cafe, their apple pie is best eaten hot with a serve of vanilla ice cream or cream.
It is unfortunately served cold and without anything which is a disappointment, which is why I always take home their apple pies and eat their hot meat pies or chicken pies served on site instead.

Plenty of other alternatives as well, from croissants, cakes and other pastries they have you covered here. Coffee available and soft drinks also available the site caters for quite a reasonable number of guests.

Great little rest stop, with indoor and outdoor dining areas, plenty of space out front for you to pull out a picnic rug also,
public toilets easily accessible.

IMHO, the best chunky beef pie in the whole of Victoria. The crust is buttery and crispy and the beef is tender and succulent.

They are also famous for their apples pies and their donuts are huge and very good as well.

1st Jan 2020 - continue to visit and love their sausage rolls, cronuts, and beef pies.

Beautiful spot! My partner and I stopped here after a big morning walk, had the best veggie pie with a side of relish.. plus a donut yum would highly recommend! Also bought a few lavender products (which they sell from near by lavender farm) for gifts which was an added bonus. Huge car park with good facilities, good for families.

Best apple pie! Best fish pie! Get there early on the weekend.

The avo on toast and chilli scramble on toast were tasty too. Friendly staffs.

A dog and horse friendly cafe (yes, horse).

Beautiful place and friendly staff! My family and I enjoyed ourselves very much. The meat pies were delicious, fillings were tender, crust was superb, and portions were very generous. Would definitely visit again.

My husband and I held our wedding reception in late April 2019 at Johnny Ripe (formerly Main Ridge Harvest) and it was the perfect regional venue.

From our first communication with the Epicurean Group team, we were welcomed and given all the information we needed. They shared our vision for an intimate setting with great food and drink.
Kate was particularly spectacular at organising our event and making sure everything happened as planned. The venue staff were so friendly and always made sure that we had everything we needed on the night.

All of our guests commented on how lovely their service was during the wedding reception and they were blown away with how DELICIOUS the food was. It was presented beautifully too. There was so much food, we wished we could have eaten more on the night! We really appreciated that the venue staff packaged up our left-over desserts so we could enjoy them the following day with our friends and family.

We would highly recommend Johnny Ripe and the Epicurean Group for your next big event. They are unique, friendly and excellent at what they do, and we can't thank them enough for making our day so special.

Very nice pie. Surprisingly. The car park is plenty so no worries. The place is cosy, worth to travel a bit to do a pit stop here if u passing by. The staff is friendly. I had a chicken and vegetable pie, it was served with some vegetables and sauce. Really good.

Great pies and pastries, especially the small apple pies. Homely atmosphere with plenty of seating inside and outside and fast and friendly service. We'll be back on next visit to the Peninsula.

Very atmospheric & lovely scrumptious light meals. Very busy between 12pm til 2pm. So try going outside of those times. Also has a takeaway section for their wonderful homemade pies...etc.

Incredible bakery with the finest selction of baked goods in Victoria, easily. The chunky beef pie (topped with their homemade relish) is succulent yet crisp, and absolutely delish. Pictured also is their salad and their gingernut cream. On top of all the gorgeous food is the magnificent hideaway of a locoation. A rustic homestead vibe perfectly placed on the peninsula with plenty of fauna and views.

A must visit bakery if you are in the area. The pies here are pretty sensational with amazing pastry and flavour. My second favourite was the creme brulee tart followed by the signature apple pie and donut. So good

Excellent cafe. Delicious pies and treats. Really great place to stop by with kids. There's lots of space to run around and there's toys out. Highly recommend!
