I’m surprised to see so many 1-star reviews here and a bit confused. Is this the same Macquarie?? My personal experience has actually been quite pleasant. I’ve never needed to visit a branch but I have good experience with: 1. Opening accounts easily online (transaction, savings, debit card); 2. Good interest rate for savings accounts; 3. Their app; 4. The call centre customer service (only called once but the waiting time was short and the consultant was informative). Personally it’s my favourite bank.

Macquarie Home Loans team are, from my experience, only interested in the bottom line. I just refinanced away from Macquarie (with a large, variable home loan). Prior to that, the only communication I received from Macquarie was the 8 letters, informing me of rate rises to my Variable Loan. I asked the Home Loans team twice for a reduction in interest rates due to financial pressures, and the answer both times was a NO.

Macquarie never followed up or showed any interest in our circumstances. They didn't even come back with a solution when we sent through our Intent to refinance form with another bank. They never offered a better rate or any solutions to match what the other bank was offering.

I have since left Macquarie, and still have never heard from them. Their staff are polite and listen, however you are pretty much on your own once you sign with them. DO NOT expect a differentiated experience with Macquarie. If they offer a good rate, go with them but do not expect any ongoing support / offers past that initial agreement.

Good rates (but you can find better ones), everything online, no branches, will go cashless soon. They said I have to open an account with the other big banks, deposit cash there and then transfer to them. Really?? Why bother?? I have several accounts and the amount of time I waste on the phone is huge. Im switching banks soon. Be nice to be looked after.

Scheduled an appointment with a home loan specialist and they never showed up. I wasted 40 minutes on waiting for them to even respond to my email about appointment no show. They apologized and said it’s a system error.

Macquarie Bank would have to be one of the worst financial institutions to deal with. Not only are they lacking common sense, their admin procedures and safety controls are boarder lining incompetent. Massive red flags have gone up for me in the last few months where i have had to log complaint after complaint to get my bank accounts back up and running. At the time of writing this my accounts still have restrictions placed on it ie, i cant have access to my money. I have many accounts with different institutions and have never encountered anything like this in decades. Macquarie hide behind the guise of anti money laundering but there is must be much more going on here when i have had this account for over 20 years?

Get your money out folks!

Opened an account online, initially working well then was locked for unknown reason.
Called call centre waited 25 mins, was asked a lot of personal questions, then was told our specialist team will contact you… what the xx
Time wasting bank do not bank with them, once unlock, I’ll transfer my money out and never again

The worst possible financial institution I have ever dealt with in my life. I opened an online account and a day later it was automatically closed without any valid reason. Do not waste your time with them, there are plenty of banks out there with great customer service.

It's not possible to hate this bank and organisation more than I do. I absolutely loathe them. Probably the worst run business in australia. I think they actively *hate* their customers. I have had my card blocked so many times it's laughable. Go with ANY other bank.

I refinanced three investment home loans to Macquarie from CBA only a couple of weeks ago and now I can't get a credit card! Been declined and they can't tell me why! Absolutely ridiculous - what have I done? Should've stayed where I was!

I have had my SMSF with Macquarie for many years and have mostly been satisfied with their product and service. However, recently (the last year or so) their customer service and turnaround times have been terrible. I mean really bad. So bad, I will be moving my super account to another provider asap.

Macquire Bank is absolute rubbish, dont put your money and they hold the money and close account without informing and then dont even talk, Just hang up .

The online account opening is almost like instant, but the branch experience is poor. Not willing to serve, doesn’t want to take cash, question every things they can to stop you for any cash transaction, example, which is your other bank that you can do online transfer, where r is your cash coming from, is that a reason for cash deposit, etc.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Getting a replacement card, service HORRIFIC. Overseas, they block my card and Internet Banking and give me a 1800 number. Not helpful. Trying to speak to someone to unlock my internet banking and credit card. 2hrs now., Keep getting transferred. Its been awhile since I have had service this bad
