This medical centre has Icon Cancer Care, Genesis and heaps of specialists. It's easy to get to as there's parking at the Wesley Hospital, on the street or it's right next to Auchenflower train station. There's also a drop off zone out the front of the building.

Plenty of specialists here, and relatively easy to find from the main hospital. If guy are a slow Walker or have a disability arrives a bit early, as parking can be very difficult and the medical centre can end up being a bit of a walk.

Lifts are quick in the building and huge so no real issues there and centres and doctors are well signposted, so even if you don't remember the suite number you can look it up on every floor.

Unfortunately I'm a regular. Generally speaking, if you plan your visit you're good to go. Parking can be tight on clinic days.

Lots of specialists, and close to hospital, pharmacy etc.
Getting there is easy as it it right next to Auchenflower Station.

Poor pickup instruction for patient’s family. Esp for patient who had his sedation. Parking is really bad. Staff are not helpful in assisting patient pickup.

As a person who has recently had to begin using walking aids, I was very disappointed in access to the Wesley Medical Centre.

1.Why are there no handrails on the side walls of the entrance stairs? There are 2 handrails in the middle of these wide stairs but surely these handrails should be installed for safety and ease of access.
2. The drop-off area has only one very small area in the gutter where someone with a walker or wheelchair can manoeuvre onto the cement path. This is often blocked by delivery vehicles and/or people there waiting to deliver or collect patients. So a patient would have to walk uphill ON THE ROAD to access the ramp near the pedestrian crossing. This is a very steep walk.
3. The ramp itself is very steep and would be very hard someone who is frail to go up, pushing a walker or wheelchair and very dangerous to go down with a wheelchair or walker. Has this complied with the guidelines for the installation of ramps?
4. The cement path at the top of the ramp, as you turn to go towards the pickup area, is very narrow and just fits a walker so would definitely be a problem for people using wheelchairs or people with limited dexterity. It would also be a problem, making sure you were on the path, for those with limited sight.
5. On the ground floor access to the Ladies Toilet is restricted to some extent by a glass wall. This could make it very hard for a lady with a wheelchair or walker to be able to easily access the door and move to be able to move to hold it open while entering the toilet or exiting and turning as she comes out.
6. I even found the electronic noticeboard with the doctors names and floors on it to be user unfriendly. It moves too quickly between screens and the distance between the doctor's name and the floor number is very wide. I have perfect vision and still had a problem
These observations were glaring to me in the less than half an hour I was there. I have no training in this field. This is part of a hospital but it seems to me that so little thought and care has been given to the really important people - the patients. Was anyone with a disability consulted?
