The best hostel I stayed in Cairns so far (and I tried 3-4hostels).
I stayed there for a month and came back there as well.

The staff is very friendly and take care of the quietness of the hostel as well as the cleanliness.
Not a party hostel, but really social.
There is some details that you can’t find in other hostel (like a freezer, curtains on the bed for privacy, TV area with Disney+ and Netflix, iron, garden where you can exercise, and some sofa in the hostels where you can chill as well, plus the swimming pool).

It’s not a big hostel which is quite nice for the noise, as well for the kitchen. You have the space to cook and it’s generally no more than 5-6 persons cooking in the same time.

Overall I would definitely recommend this hostel if you come in Cairns, very central, quiet but social, clean and quite well equipped.

Thanks mates !!

The best hostel I have stayed in across the east coast! The reception staff are super friendly, particularly the blonde English girl who checked us in, and the manager really cares about making the hostel as comfortable and welcoming as possible.
The privacy curtains are also amazing and there is a quiet time from 10 pm every night so you can get well needed rest. TV area with Netflix and Disney plus was amazing to have too!
Will be back again soon!!

Great stay, rooms are clean, air con is too good in the bedrooms if anything!

Bathrooms and showers have been cleaned regularly

Kitchen facilities are great and it’s cleaned multiple times a day. There’s plenty of fridge space, plus they’ve got a good system to allow old food to be thrown out when it needs to.

Only downside of the kitchen and downstairs seating area is that it’s very hot, more fans needed.

Outside area is big with lots of seating. Pool doesn’t look the best, but not really a big issue.

Service was fantastic, receptionist was so welcoming and friendly.

Laundry is good and cheap.

Would stay here again for sure. Perfect for backpackers.

Really nice place, cozy, clean and quiet. Perfect spot if you wanna avoid party hostels like Gilligan's or Bounce. Probably in my top 3 best hostels along the east coast

Great hostel! Lois was amazing on reception and very accommodating. All the staff are friendly and other guests were social. Mumma’s is in a great location very close to the esplanade. Free breakfast is offered in the morning 8am - 10am which is super helpful and helps keep cost down. I would definitely stay here again in the future.

I had an incredible experience during my months-long stay at Mummas Hostel.
The staff was not only accommodating but genuinely amazing, creating a wholesome atmosphere. The cleanliness exceeded expectations, and the free breakfast was a delightful bonus. It felt like a home away from home, bringing a sense of family.
Highly recommended for a comfortable and welcoming stay.
Special mention to Thomas, whose constant helpfulness added a unique touch to my stay. Will always remember your kindness! And your sense of humour!
Lois was equally helpful, contributing to the overall positive experience. Lois always brought a smile to my face and your kind gestures will always be remembered!
Anton’s assistance was notable as well, making my time there even more enjoyable. Their dedication to ensuring guests felt welcome and supported truly made Mummas Hostel feel like a second home.

I stayed in this hostel for over 3 months and it was by far the best one I’ve ever been to. The manager is a legend who takes his job seriously and keeps improving the place day by day. The receptionists are very lovely, helpful and answer every request with a smile (although the english girl can be a bit overly dramatic at times).

Rooms are mostly big enough with curtains on the beds, kitchen and toilets are clean and tidy. Big shoutout to the housekeeping ladies who constantly take care of the place.

Balcony, outside area and pool are a very nice addition. Free breakfast from 8-10am is nice though it’s nothing spectacular. Location is superb. Less than 10 minutes walk to literally any place of interest. Still it’s away from all the rustle and bustle.

Guests were a very nice mix of longterm and shortstay and it’s easy to get to know people and make friends. That said it’s not a party hostel and they make sure that the quiet time is adhered to so everybody can get their well deserved sleep.

All in all I can not recommend Mumma’s enough and would definitely stay there again!

Would stay here again! bit of an issue with our room that we would have been separated - but the blonde worker who was at the reception & the manager were very accommodating and gave us a new room so we would be together. Great location, really nice pool. Good open plan space & kitchen.

Staff very helpful and kind, the free breakfast is great so is the pool. The manager goes above and beyond to help the guests feel welcomed. But you do need to bring your passport in order to check in.

Mumma’s hostel is by far one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in. Throughout the day, you see staff cleaning nonstop ensuring that all bedrooms and common areas are clean at all times. The size of the hostel was also pleasant because it was never over crowded. The majority of people that stay here are long term therefore the residents strictly took care of the facility. They also have a nice garden area and pool where you can lounge, hangout, and have a drink. Also a nice touch, all beds in shared rooms have curtains to give each guest more privacy. The manager telisha along with her staff are great hosts and will ensure that all your needs are met and executed promptly and accurately.

Best hostel in Cairns and one of the nicest ones in the whole of Australia!

Close to shops, bars and the esplanade but still far enough from all the noise!
The bedrooms have heaps of space for all your luggage, including a big locker and storage drawer under the bed for your backpack!
All beds have curtains, lights and plugs so that you have privacy which I haven’t seen in a lot of hostels, but is an absolute game changer!!

All the workers are wonderful and the manager Telisha does an incredible job at welcoming everyone and making sure everybody feels at home here in this lovely hostel!

Best hostel, best vibes, best people! Free breakfast was sweet and the staff was amazingly accodating. Loved the open concept of the hostel, garden and pool were great! The kitchen although, could use some updating, such as more fridges and shelves and new appliances. However, all in all is a great place to stay and experience.

Mumma’s is the best hostel I have been to in Australia, the rooms are well equipped with a large drawer under the bed, curtains, plugs in the beds and large lockers. The atmosphere is great and it’s easy to meet people there. Unfortunately this is the first hostel I have stayed in Australia so now when I go to other hostels I want to die because they are so bad
