Fishpoint

Nearly didn't come as the total reviews avg lower than 4 but glad we did. The seafood was fresh and cooked well. Plus the lot burger was bloody amazing, on par with the likes of five guys or Betty's burgers. Had to put a review to up their avg, as it should be higher than 4, based on our experience.

We ordered the FP Super Grill and could not have been happier!
The size of the dish was much bigger than expected. It was refreshing to have freshly cooked ( not frozen battered nasty seafood) seafood perfectly seasoned and with fresh herbs. Loved the open kitchen, it was so clean and you could watch your food being cooked. They even battered their own fish!
Service was fantastic, shop was spotless and there's beer on tap

For many years I have bemoaned the lack of fish and chips in the Cairns city, so I was delighted to discover this place! We had the fish & chip pack for 2 and it was a very generous serve. We came in right on closing but the staff treated us like royalty and didn’t seem upset at all that we were there so late. Their in-house batter has an excellent crisp texture too. Well worth a try.

We had the FOD Combo, fish & chips with a salad, a choice of soft drink, glass of wine or juice.
It was amazing, beautifully cooked and the dressing to die for, a must to have. My husband also got the smoked salmon dish, which he loved another must have.

I had the flake fish and chips with salad. A very big servings, I finished the fush and salad but only finished half the chips. Very good quality, not greasy

Glad we took a chance on this place, came looking for fish and chips and went for their fish for 2 value deal for 36 AUD which had 2 fish of the day, 4 calamari rings, 2 battered prawns, 2 potato cakes, 2 dim Sims and a big basket of chips.

Great value, open plan kitchen and can see it's clean and hygienic. Would recommend for a quick and easy lunch spot if in Cairns. Around the corner from Dundee's where one fish and chips would set you back 36 AUD alone!

It's not Michelin obviously but for the price and freshly cooked seafood, it's a great find in Cairns where average mains dishes are around 30-40 AUD each so 5 star for price to value ratio.

Had FP Super Grill first visit. Excellent value and service. Went back second time this time for take away. Grilled Coral trout combo. Same value and service. Wish they were in Brisbane.!!

I have had many fish, but this grilled hoki is the best I have ever had, by far!!
The salad was very fresh and the chips cooked to perfection. The added bonus of being able to have a beer here makes this the place to go.

Best fish we had on our trip. Fish wrap was amazing, Calamari rings were yummy. The salad in the combo was so good! Service was very friendly. Thank you for a delicious lunch.

All the joints on The Esplanade looked as if they were charging extra for a delightful view of the mud flats, so I went one street back to Fishpoint . . . and I’m so glad I did.

The grilled (fresh) fish with (fresh) calamari, (fresh) prawns and Greek salad was excellent, as was the service. No pretentious, just bloody good food at a bloody good price.

I’m only in Cairns for two days, but I’ll be back there tomorrow!

P.S. - They have beer and wine.

My husband and I just enjoyed the most delicious and filling burgers.
I had the Bell Street burger while my husband had the Cheese Pleeze burger. Each burger came with a serve of piping hot chunky chips.
We couldn't fault the meals or the super friendly staff.
We couldn't believe how reasonable the prices are, either.
We will certainly be back on our next holiday in Cairns. It's just a pity we waited until our last night to try out this venue or we'd be back tomorrow.

Late dinner near closing time but the staff were awesome and welcoming. Three of us choosing Barramundi and Coral Trout Combos, tried the Coral Trout my wife ordered and it was superb. Barramundi was well cooked. Large pieces of fish and very generous portions of salad and chips. Well recommended

Really enjoyed the food there. We had the fried pack for two. It was more than enough food for two - we couldn't finish it all. The prawns were our favourite. The crumbed fish had too much coating on but the battered fish was spot on.

There is always a tucked away place that offers extraordinary value for money with a personalised service. I look for this, people who are passionate with what they do.
I am sure it will not be long when this will be a sort after place to eat where alcoholic beverages are available with meals.
Give it a go, I am sure you will not be disappointed!
It was so good to see young families can afford a night out with all their kids.

My advice is ignore the 3.8 rating (which is what they had at the time I reviewed).....fish and chips was absolutely fantastic and perfectly cooked and I'm fussy and hate greasy food. Chunky chips, nicely cooked fish, tasty coleslaw. Fairly priced. We'll be back every time we're in Cairns.

Lunch pack is fantastic deal. More than enough food, batter is best ever tasted. Generous fish portions, calamari melts in your mouth. Will definitely indulge on return visit to Cairns.

Staying in Cairns for a week and have eaten here twice now. Food is cooked to perfection, every staff member smiles and welcomes you. Service is great. Spoke to the owner whose attitude was great. Fish point the store itself ascetically very appealing. Dine in or take away. You may pay an extra dollar or two than your regular fish n chip shop but it's worth it. Plus they offer heaps more than a regular fish n chip shop. I definitely have to eat there again before I leave Cairns. If you up here on holidays go and visit. I've been told it's where all the locals in the know go.

Wow ! If you want value for money, then you get it right here !! We were visiting Cairns and wanted a late lunch and decided to give Fishpoint a go as it was close to our accommodation. Being a family of 6, we decided to grab the family pack and some extra chips, potato cakes and salad not knowing how large the servings were - they’re super generous !! We weren’t able to eat it all- for the first time in a long time !! The fish was huge and tasty, potato cakes and crab sticks yummy and the coleslaw perfect, we’d absolutely eat here again next time we’re in Cairns !!

Awesome feed. Had the prawn and paw paw salad. Kids had fish and chips. Fish and chips were perfect, the salad had a generous serving of prawns and fresh crisp salad with a delicious dressing. Added bonus for when dining with the kids, they sell soft drink in 1.25L bottles.
Overall, great food and extremely well priced, especially for the location.
