Slap and Pickle Low and Slow Smokehouse

Had a hankering for a brisket burger so decided to give this place a go this evening.

A nice friendly welcoming the second we walked in and great selection of smoked meat meals on the menu always sets the scene for an awesome experience.
The special was a “Big Daddy” burger so gave that a go, was not disappointed.

Our food came out in no time at all and I was soon working my way through this super tasty huge burger.

Loads of brisket, bacon and cheese to name just a few fillings and beautifully cooked to perfection.

Great atmosphere with AC/DC playing in the background while we chatted and ate.
Will definitely be back to try the share platter.

Once you start to smell the meat cooking you just have to stop and try something on the menu. Great food and friendly staff.

This was the best food we have had in Australia!

The beef brisket was melt in your mouth.
The pulled pork was perfection.
The ribs were to die for.
The lemony buttery corn on the side was immaculate.

100% will be returning for date night soon!

Loved it! When in Cairns, be sure to visit this fine establishment. We had the brisket plate, with the loaded mac and cheese (with pulled pork & crackling), and the onion rings. Bloody delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough.

Liked how the inside was stripped back to hold the barbecue smoke scent of a true smokehouse, I thought, as the smokers is right there in the restaurant.

Have been twice in the past month and can't wait to go again and take our next visitors to this cool local eatery. The tacos, smoked brisket and sausage, the ribs and tapas style eating kept us fussy diners extremely happy. Add a couple of coconut margarita's and we were in dining heaven. The service is always swift and extremely friendly.

This is some of the best BBQ that I have ever had! The ribs were amazing! The mixed grill box for one is such a good way to test out the range of meats on the menu. The brisket is also outstanding. The smoky flavour that they have managed to get into that meat is impressive. They have some great local beers available too, but get in quick because they sell out fast. The service we had was great too. Super friendly staff that are willing to talk you through the options on the menu. I would definitely go back here for another meal. Amazing.

BEST Brisket I've had in 10+years, seriously! Alot of places claim they smoke their meats for hours, but this place is the real deal, perfect char,tender, falls apart. their home made sauce is awesome as well... service was fantastic, and music/atmosphere was groovy! No joke, best BBQ around. I'm from California, where we have some of the best food in the world...

This restaurant has very much become my favourite place to eat in Cairns and you really need to do yourself a favour and go if you haven't already 💖

Let me just start off with my most favourite drink on the planet. Chloe's "lemon drop" 🍋💛 I have to say lemon is generally not a flavour I usually go for but this is now and always will be my favourite drink until I die! Dramatic? Yes! True? Yes! I challenge anyone to find me a cocktail I will like better than this one!

My favourite thing on the menu is the brisket cheeseburger. I've had everything on the menu and I haven't disliked a thing but my go to is just this lush lil burger with the juiciest most softest meat with the best flavours. That's what you get when you smoke it with love for over 12 hours!

The last photo is from a different night where two friends shared the platter that's on offer. A bit of everything including a bit of all the meats, corn, salads, pickles and even tacos so if you can't decide this one might be for you. If you like American bbq you will froth over this place like I do ;)

Slapping good Nosh. Can tell the love is in the air between the chef and the smoker, cause it’s dripping out onto the floor…. The waitstaff are amazing and it’s no surprise that it’s his beautiful family who are running the plates. Support small family business cause they serve up the goods each and every time.

This place knows how to slow-cook! I’ve been here several times, had burgers and meat platters, and it’s always amazing. Specifically, the brisket and pulled pork is amazingly tender, the accompanying sides and sauces don’t let the meals down. Quality and quality are both right up there. If you haven’t been before and are considering it, then stop thinking, and go.

As soon as I walked in I knew I was going to fall in love with this food. #3 mixed plate is really yummy, I'm just indulging peacefully enjoying all these flavours & meats... Definitely recommend to all because these guys are the best and the food is lovely and delicious

Lovely place to enjoy some low and slow BBQ.
The platter for one has all you need !
Brisket, pulled pork, sausage, coleslaw, corn and of course, some pickles.
I added some mac&cheese that were spot on too.
But you will need a solid appetite as portions are generous !
Last time I had some low and slow was in Texas and this place is all the way as good !

Had the brisket tacos outstanding flavour especially the consume broth that came with it. very quick service as well all round good experience

If you want genuine American style smoked BBQ meats, this is it!
I've been smoking BBQ meats for years now and these guys are the real deal!

We had the "BBQ box for 1", the chicken wings, the onion rings and the garlic bread.
Everything was simply amazing, rivalling and infact bettering anything I've had in Sydney.

Good value too.

The best smoked brisket burgers ever. Home smoked by the grand Donegal man himself 🇮🇪. The brilliant service from the wonderful Newcastle waitress 🇬🇧 a credit to Slap and Pickle in Cairns. Well worth the trip. 5 stars from me 😉 🍻
