The Benson Hotel

This was an excellent hotel staff always friendly and helpful. Rooms clean and well looked after. Staff could not do enough to help. Buffet breakfast was amazing and the staff supervising were so helpful.
Happy hour was a bonus, and you must try the benson lager as was Magnus Cider.
If a problem was encountered staff did not leave until it was remedied (tv). Great senses of humour.

Hotel has a vintage built with some history behind it.
The room is well serviced and cleaned for anyone looking for economic and clean accommodation.

Excellent refurbished rooms, great location. Aircon a little noisy but otherwise perfect. Pool is a bit cool in May. Enjoyed the buffet breakfast in the restaurant and some small plates we ordered and ate in our room.

Very nice. Room was quite big with 2 large beds, mini fridge and microwave. In great location with lots of cafes and shops nearby.

When I checked into The Benson Hotel in Cairns, I was met with a genuine warmth and friendliness from the reception team. They were incredibly helpful and made the check-in process a breeze, so I was able to get settled into my room in no time.

Speaking of the rooms, I was impressed by how neat and clean they were. It's always a relief to walk into a hotel room and find everything in order. The Benson Hotel definitely knows how to keep their accommodations in top shape.

One thing that stood out to me during my stay was the unique fragrance that seemed to fill the entire hotel. It was such a lovely touch and added a touch of elegance to the atmosphere. It made me feel like I was truly in a special place.

I would highly recommend The Benson Hotel to both business travelers and tourists alike. The staff's support and the hotel's excellent amenities make it a great choice for anyone visiting Cairns. Plus, the location is fantastic, putting you right in the heart of all the action.

We had dinner in the restaurant with a party of 9 people (no booking and no issues). Our table got multiple share plates and small plates and we couldn’t fault any of the dishes… it was hard to agree upon a favourite. The waitress was attentive, knowledgeable, not pushy and you could tell she’d done hospitality training with her brilliant customer engagement and food handling skills. The ambience was nice with a saxophone player. 100% recommend a hidden gem of Cairns and reasonably priced. Kudos to the chef and waitress. 👌

Had Christmas lunch there the food was superb except they ran out of Pavlova snd I couldnt eat anything else as im a Coeliac. The seafood entree was fabulous

I was going to leave a 5 star review just because of our first day (room beautiful, staff friendly and helpful, and the pool area was gorgeous and clean). The restaurant opens Wed-Sat so we got to go on our third day - exceptional. The outdoor space is beautiful, and the menu!! Just delicious. Every day was 5 stars

We went there for dinner and to listen to the music. The dinner is on the 3rd floor, with a large open area that would have been heavenly if the weather had been better. Overall a very enjoyable evening - the food was great and the jazz delightful - a superb evening.

If I could give the Benson Hotel 50 stars I would. I have just spent 15 nights here away for work. The room was amazing which was tidied impeccably everyday. The food at the restaurant was second to none it's hard to have favourites but I would suggest the beef cheeks and the pork belly. But most of all the staff here have made this stay absolutely incredible. I didn't get to meet half of them but Kayla in the restaurant you were a bloody Gem thankyou for all your suggestions. Heath and Bebe for most breakfasts, you were both an absolute delight to chat with. And my favourite by Far, Chevy on reception. You definately need to be promoted to Hotel Owner or something lol. From the moment I checked in to the night before I left I had so much fun chatting with you. You are both professional and so personable. Thankyou for being receptive of my quirky wierd humour and having a good laugh with me many times during my 15 night stay. I will never forget you or my stay here at the Benson Hotel. I very much hope to be back again soon. Thankyou.

Me and my friends had the best dining experience here! We were greeted by the super helpful and friendly Ian who ensured we were taken care of the whole evening - he went above and beyond to make sure we had a personable experience. We were introduced to Julia who looked after our orders all evening, providing exceptional service. The food was unbelievably delicious and the atmosphere was very nice with a live musician. The restaurant and bar area itself is decorated so nicely, with views of the city from the rooftop terrace. Perfect venue for cocktails and dinner!

First time in Cairns so was worried about location, but the Benson is situated very central (within 5/10 min walking distance to the esplanade)
Joanne was very kind/helpful checking us in and all staff have been friendly to deal with

Comfiest beds, fast wifi, great aircon, definitely recommend the new upgraded rooms as they’re beautifully renovated.
Sad the sauna was getting renovated but the pool area was lovely with heaps of seating and a large deep pool. Thanks Benson!

We stayed at the Benson for a family holiday in one of the updated rooms a couple of weeks back. We had an amazing stay. Room was exceptional, fantastic central location right over the road from Rusty’s Markets. Restaurant food was delicious. Staff were really friendly and helpful in every interaction. Highly recommend. Can’t wait to come back again soon. Will be the only place I will stay when I come back to Cairns. Thanks, Serena and family

We loved our recent stay at The Benson. Our family has travelled all over the world and we can say with pride that we have just met the best hotel staff in the world - at The Benson Hotel. From the reception staff to restaurant/bar staff to cleaners - all super professional, attentive to our every need, as well as super friendly. One exceptionally amazing team. We love the decor, love the food and drinks (best latte) and overall cleanliness of the hotel. We had such a great stay that we have just made an excuse to book another stay at your fabulous hotel. My partner and I stayed at the Benson for the first time normally we stay at Rydgers the esplanade , we were there from the 17th July till the 24th July 2023. We go to Cairns every year around July,we went online to book a twin share balcony which was 20% cheaper then any other hotel ( Rydgers) and decided to ring direct and to our surprise was told they could do a better deal for us and it was saved us $ 150.00 we were delighted as pensioners every dollar saved added to our holidays. The rooms were so modern clean and we couldn't complain at all.
The Grafton street is very busy on Friday and Saturday nights with the young ones going to Gilligan's night club but if you have a balcony like us it was so entertaining , once you close the balcony door couldn't her a thing.
Finally we want to say how great the team is there in particular Rachel on the night shift, she is a gem and definitively made our holiday with her wonderful Kiwi smile and help for their guest,she is one of our reasons to come back next year, say hi to her when you arrive and send our best wishes from Sandra and Charlie. Overall we are totally recommending The Benson to all our friends and all who decide to stay at The Benson.

Had a great time staying at the hotel. Customer service is great and staff are friendly.

Fabulous accommodation. The staff are great. The views are fabulous. Make sure you upgrade to the breakfast buffet. Well worth it. Fully refurbished and very clean and comfortable. My only gripe was the noisy air conditioner and the bathrooms could use some bleach. But these were minor things compared with the overall comfort and quality of the hotel.
