Bistro Lamp (Japanese Fusion+Bar)

This is one of my favourite restaurants on the Gold Coast. My family and I are regulars here, and the service is always impeccable.

Food: Incredible. Very authentic Japanese tastes with modern and inventive twists. The Tataki is wonderful, as is the Karaage. Everything is very affordable and reasonably priced. On Thursdays especially, their delicious Bao Buns are only $5 each.

Service: Great. We know the staff quite well now, and they’re always kind and very good servers. The food doesn’t take too long either.

Atmosphere: Really nice. The restaurant is in a funny little round building, and it has a lovely homey feel. The music is never too loud and the lights are just right.

I love this place. I have some fantastic memories of going here for special occasions, and I’ll continue to visit for a long time yet.

Had an amazing experience at Bistro Lamp. The food was delicious, the agedashi tofu was my favourite- I could drink that broth for breakfast. The cocktails were perfectly balanced and the staff were very attentive and friendly. I think this will be my regular dinner spot

Nestled in the shopping complex by the GC highway, Bistro Lamp is an experience all must have. Food is isakaya style, small plates to share. The ambience is really nice and staff super friendly! Food was the star of the show, we ordered a the kingfish, eggplant, karage and beef for the main which was delicious. All in all great experience. Will be back 🙌🏾

A very low-key restaurant with high-end food. And yes, although the food was delicious, it lacked in quantity, noting that at other Japanese restaurants, I ordered similar meals and left feeling full. Here, I left hungry (not starving, but I could have eaten more) keeping in mind the amount of money I had just spent.

I did love the fusion flavour and menu items. Highlights for me were the sesame Karaage chicken & Egg plant miso. Bao buns, Gyozas & wagyu steak were all great, too.

The staff were fast to react to your needs.
I do recommend booking in for the nights they have the specials as bookings are required, all though they did still serve us the $5 bao-buns. That was much appreciated.

The layout is rather tight, but cosy. I loved the architectural design of the building. It was something different and stood out from the modern and plain.

We came here on holiday by chance a few years back and loved it so much we made the specific effort to come back for our anniversary. The food is beautiful, small share plates that are worth the price and goodness I wish I could order everything on the menu. They do a great job of showcasing and honouring classic Japanese flavours and adding delicious twists to traditional dishes. The signature cocktails were also amazing, perfectly balanced flavours.

Their home made vodka drink was delicious 🥰 as was the agedashi tofu 😍
Good was a little slow coming out and half of table had finished eating by the time the last person's food arrived, but their service probably suits share plates better than individual means YMMV. still good enough, will be back for more 😁💕

The best Japanese I’ve had on the Gold Coast for a long time. Food was amazing, tasty and fresh. Great unique and fusion dishes as well. Highly recommend!

We went To Bistro Lamp for dinner tonight for the very first time and can’t believe we didn’t go to this amazing restaurant before despite living under 10 minutes from this place. Absolutely delicious food, great ambiance, super friendly staff and accomodating kitchen (we are vegetarians and have fussy kids hence needed some variations to the original dishes). Our kids loved this place too. So glad we tried this new place tonight which instantly became our new favourite Japanese restaurant on the Gold Coast. 5 out of 5 stars 🌟

This quaint but funky little restaurant/bar provides a fun escape from the classic GC vibes. Very dark and moody but with a cozy feel. An interesting menu that's very much Japanese with a twist (incorporating things like bao buns and some less traditional Japanese ingredients). We tried the deep fried eggplant, teriyaki salmon, garlic/chilli edamame and calamari. All delicious - but small serves as it's designed to be tapas style, so know if you're going there hungry, you'll probably need 2-3 plates to satisfy (which obviously makes it more of a pricey meal).

The staff were lovely and despite being a Saturday night, the restaurant was fairly quiet so easy to have a nice chat.

Great little Japanese fusion place with woody decor. All dishes cooked with a lot of thought. Recommended when you are after good quality Japanese food but looking after something a little different.

I've been to bistro lamp a few times now. This place is the definition of quality of quantity. Do yourself a favour, book a table and get the wagyu. Awesome spot

Very delicious food. I love the Japanese beers on tap the half and half is actually very nice.
