I've been buying shoes here for 25 years - school shoes, business shoes, running shoes - to suit my weirdly wide feet. They're never the cheapest, but the service is outstanding. Craig knows how to fit a shoe and get the right option for the task. I've never regretted buying any of the shoes I've purchased at Simpsons. One time I had a problem with a new pair of business shoes, which had started falling apart after a few weeks due to some factory gluing issues. Craig sent a replacement pair to my work in Sydney and I dropped off the faulty pair when I was next in town. The replacement pair went another five years, with daily use commuting.

There aren't many multi-generational family businesses still around. This one is worth the visit.

Simpson's are sadly closing down, so having a sale. No luck with shoes for me this time, but I enjoyed the social visit.

I'm a 30-something female, trying to buy orthotic-friendly shoes. I felt that this store, like two others I've tried on the area, are behind the times.
They really cater to older women who wear more casual shoes and sandals. A lot of the shoe styles are very chunky; very practical with no style. I understand that orthotics pose some limitations, but I think it's on the retailer to source stock from a wider range of suppliers.
"Work shoes" mean chunky black Mary Janes that I wore to high school in the 90s. Yes, it's coming into summer, but the proportion of open-toed shoes was much too high. Plenty of women wear nude or neutral-coloured shoes to work, and expect sleek lines.
I'm yet to try any of the stylish brands that seem to only be available online. I wish they had some in store.
They don't need to keep stock of everyhting, just enough to allow customers to try on, then have the right ones shipped to their door.
I still ended up buying two pairs of shoes, but not what I'd had in mind upon arriving. I was disappointed to hear the no exchanges or returns policy.
I'm sure the staff would say that I'm a fussy customer and I just have to accept what is available. I think this store is missing out on sales opportunities with their old-style business model.
