The legendary Bogey Hole is perfect for pre sawn swims when it is mostly deserted and serene.
Sunrise is sublime on clear mornings.
Dolphins can sometimes bee seen riding waves as they approach the shore.
You are generally safe even if waves are spilling into the pool but this is very much a enter at own rksk situation and you should avoid on days of large swell at high tide.

Really cool spot to visit but not on an extremely windy day! Although it was amazing watching the waves break on the rocks and seeing water splash up to nearly touch you, wouldn’t dare risk swimming in those conditions. But a beautiful walk and view. Highly recommend to check out it in Newcastle!

Beautiful spot and quite hidden away. Doesn't seem to be as populated as other watering holes, which is quite nice.

Wild ocean waves with such a stunning pool. Brave swimmers experienced the large wild waves.

This place is a mini oasis waiting to be found. Never would have found it if it wasn't for Google maps. The swim here is very refreshing and the sound of waves hitting the rocks was awesome.

But please make sure you visit this place during low tide. It's DANGEROUS during high tide so avoid it during the time.

Best place ever! Amazing views. Nice to swim but remember to check the tides. Can be too hard to swim during high tides :)

What an amazing rock pool. What more can one ask for. 🤔 I didn't get a chance to swim, definitely next time.

Definitely worth a visit. You will get a dose of adrenaline at the beginning (when u see the whole) but then once you are in the water you will see that you can reach the ground with your feet and you can control your body against the waves. Leave your belongings a little higher on the staircase as some waves come quiet high. Only a few parking spaces, many people parked on the side of the road (especially caravans and trailers). Definetly worth going to swim and get showered by waves.

Extremely nice pool for a quick soak. Unfortunately it was really cold when I was there. Will be nice on a hot summer day. Pack light as it’s just stairs down to a dock and that’s the pool. You would have to leave your belongings at the stairs.

Beautiful place to swim! Been 3 or 4 times this yr after just over a yr on my own. So refreshing! Love the ocean!! It was extremely hot Monday, felt so bad all day, this helped! Was there for about an hr & a half. It has different depths. Nice to stand on the rocks, hold onto the chain & look out onto the ocean, did this a few times when waves didn't wash over a lot. Lots of seaweed, be very careful on the rocks after the steps

Absolutely unique rock pool in Newcastle. It can get a bit rough with high tide but if locals are in you can also experience the fabulous pool.
We were lucky in that sun came out and the waves were more manageable in the afternoon.

Recommended.

This is a convict built ocean pool carved out of the rock shelf its a beautiful spot but be aware when the ocean is rough it can be a dangerous spot. Also no lifeguards on duty

What an amazing place. The ocean crashes against the rocks at full force. Never been so close to such an awesome sight.

Came hear to finish watching the sunrise, absolutely beautiful. Didn't go down to the bogey hole as I wasn't sure how to get there. Regardless, enjoyed the views!

Such a beautiful place so close to the city, lucky people of Newcastle. AMAZING spot just to chill and enjoy the sunrise with or without a refreshing dip. Waves can look scary as they hit the rocks. Be prepared to walk to get there, but it's definitely worth the price.
