Wonderful Ann Thomson exhibition. Entry fee. Helps support the gallery. Always the best coffee and cake available as well as lunch. Brilliant views from the observatory. We always drive up but if you don't know the area you might get a bit bushed. Suggest you walk up from The Rocks .

A gem that’s hidden on the observatory hills.
Open space with nice layout to have citations that’s with different themes.
It’s a home for local Aussie artist.

The dining room attached to the gallery is very bright and cozy.
I recommend this gallery as a nice stop of your weekend morning

Field of Vision is the current showing of indigenous art at the Ervin Gallery. For those attuned to the genre, it’s spellbinding, unmissable. 51 Puntupi artists’ Western Desert works, largely from private collections were selected by curator Christopher Hodges. The geometric style is elegant, busy and
optically fascinating. A worthwhile 54 minute video mostly spoken by members of the community gives a back story to the evolution of the artists from total isolation to their western world life and art expression. It closes on 14 April.

This year's Portia Geach exhibition of women portrait painters was very good. These paintings in particular caught my eye.

I always find the exhibitions here to be fascinating and the staff to be most welcoming.
There is also a very pleasant restaurant on site with a good range of home cooked meals.
I pa to enjoyed my lunch there today.
There is a small admission charge for exhibitions and they do not, at the time of writing, accept cash payments although the restaurant asked that we paid cash for our meal if possible.
Looking forward to my next visit

Went to the S.H. Ervin gallery to see the Archibald portraits that missed being shown at the NSW art gallery at the S.H. Ervin gallery. Very pleasant, intimate environment.
And a visit to their cafe/ restaurant is a nice way to finish your visit.

Excellent beautiful specialist art gallery, in beautiful historic building. With a terrific café attached. Run by the National Trust. Just getting there is a special event, as it is next to the Harbour Bridge and behind Sydney Observatory.

A small but interesting gallery. The surrounding grounds offer amazing views of Sydney harbour and easy access to the harbour bridge and the rocks.

Excellent exhibition of two Australian female artists Spowers and Syme, who painted 'modernist' works in the inter-war years.
