We have been customers of Academic wardrobes for the last 4 years. When we bought our house, the best investment we made was putting in built in wardrobes. Since then, we have put in bookcases, another wardrobe and we will keep on going. The quality is exceptional and the service is fantastic. Cannot recommend more highly.

The whole operation from the visit, quote, installation and clean up was most professional. We asked for and received a made to measure fitted wardrobe with two sliding doors that matched the room perfectly.

They built beautiful floor-to-ceiling bookcases in a time efficient, top quality and cost effective way, so we’re going back for a second piece of Custom built furniture. Their designer/quote person Martin has worked with us to help determine what we want and how best to create it.

I had two wardrobes installed by Academic Wardrobes. These guys are very professional and their work was fantastic. Their price was very reasonable and their workmanship was excellent. Very happy with my new wardrobes.

Shelving is ok, but not what we expected. The shelving is not made custom to your space. It comes in one size and then they either leave a gap or cover the gap. We wanted to make our space more economical, however it appears these installations actually waste much space. We were not explained this prior to installation.

Was attracted by the competitive pricing. But you get what you pay for sadly.

Poor workmanship and very defensive when issues were raised. Would not use again.

We settled with Academic to redo the internals of our 3 wardrobes. After a few back and forth with the designs we finalised them and had signed and dated copies sent to Academic on their behest. Despite that they installed the wrong designs in 2 of the 3 wardrobes and got the measurements for the door wrong on the 3rd. It took them 1 month to come back and fix the mistake.
There is nothing custom about the wardrobes Academic designed. Everything was standard, material used were generic and asking anything more than what they normally do will quickly see your costs escalating. We have a lot of vertical space in 2 of our wardrobes and we asked for a design to maximise it. The outcome was a poorly designed top shelf that cannot be accessed by anything bigger than a shoe box.
There is nothing special about Academic compared to IKEA, not even the craftmanship. Edward the owner and designer will say he has 40 years of experience doing this but it’s just 40 years of doing mediocre work. When challenged he got defensive and began scolding us for not knowing what we want even though we were extremely specific. Later to cover his mistakes, he asked us for redesigns to be drawn and sent so he can build it; which ironically is the reason why we hired the “experts” but they seem to miss this idea.
To top it all, when I requested to speak with the management about my concerns, I was introduced to Edwardo, Edward’s son. It quickly became clear to me that the place was full of confirmation bias and nepotism. There was no way his son or anyone there who would contradict Edward.
I regret having spent double of what IKEA would have charged for half the value and none of the customer service.
