The Colonial British Indian Cuisine Neutral Bay

I have been going here and there Darlinghurst branch from 3 years but never got a chance to review. I’ve been to around 50 Indian restaurants in Sydney but this stands tall at number 1 as the best restaurant. The curries are just absolutely amazing and so delicious. Loved the fusion of British and Indian flavours which makes this restaurant so unique!!

For example my favourite saag here is never overcooked or just overfilled with Indian spices but maintains a subtle flavour balance of saag and spices cooked in ghee. Same true for the other curries. Absolutely mesmerising!

The best thing they told me that they prepare all the dishes in Indian ghee and don’t use unhealthy commercial oils. The service is very friendly as always with a cosy ambience and I am amazed to see an Indian restaurant with so many vegan options. If you really want to taste the authentic flavours of India with a hint of British style, you would love the recipes here.

Amazing food and service. Tried British fish Curry, saag paneer, assorted breads and tandoori chicken tikka, Everything was perfect (we did ask for extra spicy). Service was pretty quick as well.

Ordered Vege Samosa & Railway Goat, Med hot. Somosa very good and goat sensational. 9/10. I shall return. Kingfisher beer perfect choice with curry.

Butter Chicken Review - Best I have had since coming to Sydney! Definitely going to order this one again!

Each bite of naan and gravy, had that addictive feeling.

• Visually - the color and texture of the curry looked spot on!

• ⁠Charred Chicken - I loved the charred burnt taste on the chicken. Chicken was fresh and ratio of curry to chicken was good - there was more chicken than I expected.

• ⁠Grainy texture of butter chicken was amazing , enjoyed every bite. Perfect classic butter chicken taste which is tough to find. Having an option to make it more spicy for those want would be great.

Garlic Naan - Naan was a total hit , complimented the butter chicken perfectly , soft garlicky. Loved it!

I’ve been to many Indian restaurants in Sydney & especially the Uk and this place doesn’t disappoint. Great flavour dishes & the stuff are great. Nice little Gem to add to my restaurants. Will be back again.

We had a nice dinner on a Sunday. We ordered 2 vegetarian curries: paneer tiika masala and a potato one. The cheese nam was great and the mango lasi too! Service was pretty quick and also was the food. The environment is chilled and nice.

I wanted Take away Indian on a Friday night. Uber app was melting with demand. Our go to has always been Chicken Sasg and Goan Fish. Not an easy combo to find everywhere. Colonial came up but had no drivers. Decided to go pick it up. Ordered from their website. Saved like $10 in Uber fees and then they gave me an extra 30 percent discount.

The food sat in my car for about 25 mins on the way back home. The Saag was above average but the Goan Fish! Probably the best Indian curry Ive ever had period (Ive had a lot)..... So so delicious. I can only imagine it's better if you eat there too. Cumin seed and cardamom rice was really great too. Will definitely order again.....

We went with our family and enjoyed the Indian food curries. A great place to have a dinner or lunch with family or friends. Good service and great food!

My family has been several times, and always enjoyed our meal. My 8yo can always find something on the kid menu.

I may even have given a 5 star review previously.

But I’d give six stars if possible because today I ordered from their Darlinghurst restaurant on accident, and they were able to cancel the order and remake it in Neutral Bay 🤦‍♂

Great restaurant, I’ve tried many curries from here for takeaway and they are always amazing! My favourite takeaway spot for Indian food.
