Goldbergs Coffee House

I used to come here all the time when I lived in the area, I took my wife on our first date here because I knew the food and coffee would be good. Ten years later and the food and coffee is still reliably good. It’s a little on the expensive side but what you would expect in this area. The coffee beans have that sour fruity taste so not for everyone but it’s well made so even if it’s not your favorite bean it’s still good. The service is relaxed and friendly and I’d recommend this cafe for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
Today I had the Canadian French toast and my only feedback would be that it maybe needs a maple butter or something. Otherwise great breakfast!

A gem in Newcastle. Amazing dining experience that ticked all the boxes: customer service, atmosphere, gourmet food (quality/quantity) and great value for money. My wife & I can’t recommend this place well enough. Will be back for sure!!!

Food was incredible!! The chicken bacon walnut pasta was flavorful and I really liked the different texture of the walnuts in the dish! We had the pork cutlet special which was hands down the tenderest pork cutlet I've ever had for such a thick cut!! We had the apple pie and chocolate cake for dessert which was great as well, both came with whip and ice cream! Had a takeaway coffee earlier in the day and it didn't disappoint either. Highly recommend visiting!!!

Love Goldbergs. It's my go to place for a Reuben sandwich. It is SOOOOOO GOOOOOOD! Coffee is great. Atmosphere is great. Do yourself a favour and hang out here some time.

Called in for a coffee and desert and wasn’t disappointed. Coffee was to order and the sticky date pudding and carrot and walnut cake delicious. They were big servings too. Atmosphere was great with seating out on the footpath, inside or the quaint courtyard out the back. Staff very friendly and attentive.

This is my 3rd time at Goldbergs for great reason. Always greeted with the upmost respect and smiles, always treated with efficiency and the food is exceptional.

My personal favourite, the Siciliana is a masterpiece which compliments the warm atmosphere, top tier selection of local craft beer and the music coming from the front of the restaurant.

I’ve never had an experience like this from a restaurant, and to come back a 3rd time and still be impressed is exceptional. Goldbergs is truly a hidden gem of Newcastle which, if I didn’t want to see it succeed, I would keep to myself.

It’s my first time being at this cafe. Their interior design, friendly staff, and overall vibe made me want to try this place although there are many options in this town. Even though we were just looking at the menus and browsing our breakfast options, the staff was welcoming and offered us to sit wherever we wanted. They also showed us the backyard seating area. The hot chocolate was absolutely amazing (the best hit choc I haven’t had for a long long time) and the coffee was brilliant. Even though I don’t drink coffee, I couldn’t resist and had two sips!

The kimchi rice bowl I got was light, delicious and healthy. The big brekkie was also great and I particularly loved the cauliflower “hash brown”.

Had a delightful time at Goldbergs Coffee House with my husband! The chocolate cake and carrot cake were delicious and perfectly portioned. The friendly service and warm atmosphere made our visit even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Absolutely lovely place. 10 out of 10 for quality of the food and overall atmosphere.....especially wonderful was the girl who took my order on a Thursday morning..I had come back twice on the same morning because I couldn't get a seat.....I don't know her name but she was absolutely lovely, so helpful, accommodating and efficient. A first class experience... I'd love to return but live in WA..and am currently visiting Newcastle. Thanks

I love a bacon & walnut cream pasta here💝 All of the workers here were so kind. I will come here again! for 100% !

I was told this place is a local institution, and we were not disappointed. Friends and I spent an afternoon people watching, drinking great coffee and enjoying fantastic food with great wine. A special mention to our waiter Richard. He was super knowledge about the menu and couldn't have done anymore to make our visit truely enjoyable.

Fabulous place for lunch. Met up with friends for a long overdue catch-up. All our meals were delicious and every staff member super friendly. Can't wait to return

Busy cafe with a nice courtyard out the back. Great menu with the usual breakfast/ lunch options and also plenty of out of the ordinary dishes. Everything we ate was amazing, coffee was 8/10

Love Goldberg! I particularly love their Hot Chips. They have a great outdoor area in the back that’s a good place to hangout with friends.

such a wholesome meal tonight at Goldbergs. I was recommended this place by a couple of locals and I’m very glad I visited. These places are far and few in between these days, nothing like a good old cafe open for dinner that serves just some simple and tasty grub. Goldbergs hit the spot tonight with my creamy chicken, bacon and honey roasted walnut pasta. The staff were very sweet and helpful. I’ll definitely return!

I saw other people's recommendations in other apps, especially came over to eat. When I entered the store, the clerk was very smiling with a smile. When I went, it was about five or six oldclock .There were many people inside, although the clerk felt very busy but the service was very good. Ok, I ordered the steak sirloin. The squid is really delicious. It’s not disappointing. The steak is really delicious. It’s a wonderful weekend. Although it’s raining, I can’t sit outside, but everything is fine. It’s just that a lot of people are a bit noisy, but everything is worth recommending, and will definitely go back to eat.

The outdoor space is nice with heating in winter.
We really enjoyed the walnut pasta and one of the specials they had on.
Service is always friendly.

If you are on Darby street in Newcastle, take a moment to stop for an amazing coffee at Goldbergs. We ordered mocha and affogato. Loved it. Staff is friendly and service is superfast. Ambience has a classic vintage feel, almost like a traditional English pub atmosphere. Soothing music and candle lit place .. wow !!

An absolute Newcastle institution. Choose from the warm ambience of inside dining, the casual, child friendly back garden option, or the busy street-side front seating areas.
Always wholesome and satisfying food and beverage options, whether that be for a morning coffee and breakfast, lunch, dinner or late evening/post show cake.

Had Breakfast Brunch and the food was delicious and staffs were friendly and cheerful too

Highly recommended!!!!
