Great little spot for breakfast! Sat outside which was lovely! Located on a street with lots of little businesses in the area. Very accommodating to our request to a variation on the menu! The food was so yummy I nearly forgot to take a photo! The mango smoothie is delicious!!! I drank that instantly. I had the muesli. Yum! Thank you for a great breakfast!

Came here for a coffee on the run and stayed for a full-on breakfast! So glad we did...the food was delicious, the service fast and the amenities rustic but perfectly clean. So often these "hole-in-the-wall" cafes confuse "rustic" with "old and filthy". The staff were extremely pleasant - even to the point of serving us an extra fritter that I mistakenly thought was missed from our order. The fault was entirely mine and I apologise. The kind gesture ensured we will be back! Price for an extremely hearty breakfast and two coffees (also perfect) was reasonable. Well done, One Penny!

Cakes are delicious and fresh. Coffee is great tasting. Lovely atmosphere and not to noisy.

The penny veggie breakfast and the pancakes were great and the customer service was amazing. So accommodating to our requests of being strictly vegetarian. Coffee was great too!

We got the Sweet Corn Fritters and the Buddha Bowl. Both very delicious dishes to have for a Monday morning. Fritters cooked excellent and the pumpkin and beetroot relish in the Buddha Bowl very tasty. Very good coffee as well, strong but not bitter in any way. With all the future redevelopment happening in Hunter St. This place deserves to be around when it all improves in the future.

The coffee is consistently good, and the food is always fresh, tasty, and filling.

There are plenty of healthy and vegetarian options. My top picks are the Persian scrambled eggs, One Penny veggie breaky, roast mushroom & asparagus stack, and smashed avo.

Coffee wise, try a Lindt Chocolate Mocha. They do milk, dark and white chocolate.

Excellent batch brew and a very generous size too! Very laid back vibe overall. We had a Budha bowl and Manuka Salmon. Both delicious!!! There’s a large variety of other coffees as well. Definitely a must for anyone in the area.

We ate breakfast here in a Saturday and the service was fast. The food was beautifully presented and very tasty and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. Would recommend!!

Unbelievable food. Both dishes we got were delicious. The fritters were probably the best I've had. Can't wait to go back once we're back in the area!

Each Saturday morning we go to One Penny Black after bootcamp on Nobbies Beach. The food is amazing, the staff are just lovely and the location is excellent. I highly recommend this establishment!!

Breakfast burritto of the gods. If you want a absolutely incredible tasty breakfast that is so large is enough food for pretty much the whole day. Ignore the unassuming shop front and go inside. Definitely will not be disappointed or go hungry

I've travelled all over Australia, obsessed with finding killer coffee. This is one of the best coffees I've EVA HAD. And, that's a big call in my book.

I have a complicated Tumeric Latte concoction that's really difficult to get right. Yet, mine was a perfect as it could possibly be.

The Owner/Barista you could tell was fanatical about every. single. coffee he makes. Watching him making coffee was like watching an artist in the zone.

I'd drive to Newcastle again just for another coffee here alone.

I love a good coffee - Loved this place! Great decor inside, decent seating outside. Friendly & prompt service. Amazing tasting cappuccino with macadamia milk (yes, they have this here 🤩) & white chocolate Lindt mocha. Was open on Boxing Day public holiday - busy but in a good way.

They do very nice eggs and have a nice breaky selection. Also the coffee (flat white) was great and the staff members very friendly and helpful.

Passing through on our way back to Sydney, brunch was so yummy, had the best Piccolo in a while now...great service & had a lovely chat with the coffee roaster, forgot to catch his name...😋
